So we got a new neighbor in our duplex about a month ago. We have two dogs and a kitten for pets. He brought roaches with him. We were watching movies tonight (go rent Chicken Little, its cute, its funny, and the fish out of water totally stole the show) when the movies were over I went into the kitchen and turned on the light to clean up from our dinner. THere were roaches EVERYWHERE. We started seeing them in the past few weeks, so I had some spray handy, and I started spraying them. Turns out, they are coming out of the electrical sockets in our kitchen.

Now, we are moving into a brand new house that they just finished building. Signing papers on Friday. I have to start packing everything up, but don't they like LOVE cardboard boxes? If I scrub everything in my kitchen down with hot soapy bleach water and store it in a rubbermaid tote, do you think that will be enough? I really don't want to bring all these roaches with us to the new house. BUt I also can't afford to get all new kitchen stuff either. Help a sister out!!

Anyone have any advice?

Take the boxes out of the house as you load them, check each one carefully for any bugs etc. Load them directly into whatever vehicle you're gonna transport them with.

Thats what I was thinking, but I wasnt sure. I am so disgusted my skin is crawling. I mean they were seriously POURING out of the electrical fixture.

why don't you just buy some roach traps

Don't bring furniture with you.

Anything you bring with you can't have a place for these fuckers to hide, or contain eggs.

We aren't bringing any furniture. We bought all new furniture. And we hav had traps down since we first saw them. I only see them in the kitchen ever. This is so creepy.

There's a spray you can use that repels all sorts of insects....you go around the perimeter of the room and spray the baseboards and they (generally) stay away for 6 months.

I can't think of what it's called atm, though.

Seriously what Harrison mentioned EGGS. Buy some brand new rubbermaid totes, store them in your car or something until you are ready to pack in them. Bring them in one at a time, and everything you put in the tote WASH WASH WASH before you put it in. Then off with the tote right back outside, don't leave it inside. who knows if those fuckers will lay eggs on it or something.

Get child safetly outlet thingies and plug the outlets. Keep them in the walls for a bit.

Or get a flamethrower.

I recommend flamethrower too...that or mustard gas.

I had the same issue when my first husband and I got married. The apartment we were in was seriously infested. What I did was just packed a box at a time the day of the move , making sure no roaches were in it, then hauled it out to the moving van. It was a pain in the ass but I didn't take one roach with me, and I'm talking we had tons of those little fuckers. We didn't have alot of stuff like I do now but that worked for me. Good luck, those fuckers are a pain in the ass to get rid off.
