there was a ton of trade rumors going around but nothing really happened other then a couple big ones.

but watching Kevin Lowe, and seeing how blindsided by it he was....

ESPN is saying a big reason is cause his wife doesn't want to live in Edmonton.

Now, if only the Sharks could acquire him, but the odds of the Oilers trading him away to even a conference rival are about 0. I guess I need to keep my hopes pinned to the Sharks being able to sign Rob Blake as a FA.

sharks need a goalie, not a defenceman

I have more confidence in the Sharks' goalies than you do. From watching them play day in and day out over the season, one of their biggest needs is a true #1 defenseman, who can make that 1 pass to start a rush, quarterback the power play, and be solid in his own end at the same time. Neidermayer would've been perfect, Blake would work fine, so probably would Pronger.

Well, I agree with you. That doesn't change the fact though that the Sharks would be helped immensely by getting someone like Neidermayer, Blake or Pronger.

osgood just bought a house again in michigan, so that makes me die a little inside knowing he will be around again for another season.

the sharks goaltending is fine, nabokov and toskaala are both pretty decent goalies. Look at who made the finals this year, or even the semis, not one of them was seen as "the kind of goaltender who could lead a team to the cup". Depending on the make up of your team, you shouldn't need a goalie to steal games, just not to lose them for you (god bless you lalime)

The thornton deal was great, but it did hurt the sharks depth on the blue line. All the rumors I've read have blake going back to colorado, but you never know. There are a lot of other good free agent defensemen out there too though, redden, chara, jovanovski, mccabe (I don't like him but he does score), lidstrom (prob no chance he leaves detroit)

Report in the local paper that the Sharks and the Sens are talking a Vesa Toskala for Martin Havlat trade, if Havlat will sign a long-term deal with the sharks as part of the trade. Ottawa wants a goalee upgrade, especiually if Hasek is done, and Sharks want to upgrade their left wing on the Thornton line.

By the trades I have seen involving Havlat, I think the Sens management aren't as high on him as I am.

I would hate seeing havlat traded for a career backup, toksala is good but I guess i agree with zan. Havlat was a point a game player in the old NHL, on the 3rd line without much talent

course it could just be the homer in me overvaluing my home town team's players.

Toskala was the starter for the second half of the season plus the playoffs.

You can say that for about 90% of the teams.

ya, thats my point. I hope i don't see the sens trade one of their most talented players (granted he has some other problems) for a goalie who has spent all of half a season as a started and the rest of his career riding the bench.

Hell if they wanted that, they could have tried to sign huet and gotten him for free

cant wait to go see some games at the tank again this year.

It's a great place to see a hockey game, that's for sure.
