I have a small amount of cash right now and want to start a side business to generate a few hundred $ a month in income with it.

I have been toying with a few ideas but am open to suggestions. I have done well in the past just finding good deals on things and turning them around for a small profit but those kinds of deals don't come around very often and I am hoping for something with a consistent income and possibility for growth.

this may not be your thing, but right now there is a huge demand building for cafe racer style motorcycle parts and accessories. lots of back orders right now on cool parts, especially for the new triumph bonneville. there are a few guys i know of who work from home in their garage selling imported parts and or making their own, who cant keep up with demand.

you can also do well looking for vintage bikes and parting them out.

Yeah, I make some money doing the DJ thing and some more money doing the IT consulting thing on the side but I've almost run out of hours in the day. What I am hoping for is something that I can spend a few grand on to get it started and let it run itself with a few hours a week input from me. *shrug* Something like what Kill suggested is interesting... if I can find distribution for whatever widget it is I am trying to resell, that would be perfect. Setup a website and buy low, sell high kind of thing.

Its summer time, buy a snow cone trailer (they are about 20x20) and pay a couple of teenagers $6 an hour and all the dnowcones they can eat to run it for you.

I've thought about that too. Some kind of coffee or sandwich cart etc but then dealing with employees and taxes and all that shit would add even more work. I'd like to see some statistics and see what kind of profit those operations pull in.

My cousin makes an absolute shit-ton of money going to air shows and setting up those huge inflatable slides and jumping pits and such. He started out selling different products and hiring staff...then switched to selling pizza by the slice and getting a local boy scout troup to volunteer their services. Now it's just him and his wife setting up the rides and taking money. Very little overhead and no employees or licenses to deal with.

He buys a new tour bus every year to get to and fro. Air shows are always on the weekend so he basically works about 4 days (including travel time) and makes close to 500k a year.

Downside is being out in the sun all day and dealing with whiny kids.

Depending on the $$ you have saved up as well as what part of the country you're in, self serve car washes can be very good money and easy to maintain. As long as you can make it out there a couple times a day to refill liquids, remove trash and empty coins you shouldnt have to do much actual work. Could even hire a teenager to go out and do the odds & ends then collect the coin yourself.

Don't have enough for that kind of operation although it sounds good.

Buy a small commercial property in a podunk farm town and manufacture biodiesel and undercut gas prices to fill up tractors, semi's and various other types of farm equipment.

I think you should grow your hair back Tossica and wear make-up like Boy George and sell Avon.

That could work, actually. I know someone who was making several hundred bucks a month playing EQ2 on one of the special servers that allow for out-of-game real money sales. Hell, pay for powerleveling up to a level where you can farm rare stuff, then turn it around into a business. heh.

I don't need a job... I need a quick and or steady return on a cash investment. I have like 2 hours a week to play games... doubt I could make much money in those 2 hours.
