Ok the bitch is sane enough to know whats coming to her so much so that she cries when she gets let off the hook, and TWO has a semi-normal relationship with her ex husband?

Yah real fucking insane sure. Tie that bitch to the chair, and let me throw the switch.

I just can't get the image of her holding her 7 year old under while he fought her out of my head. That poor boy, the terror he must have felt. And you know all he wanted was for her to stop and hold him. She was his mother for crying out loud.

Our oldest is 7. :(

She should be in prison for the rest of her life, which considering her crime, probably wound't have been long.

This makes me so ill. I think they should have held her under water just long enough to knock her out once for every one of her kids. And they should have let her run the last time only to catch her and do it again just so she has the slightest idea how they felt. :-x The feeling of water rushing in your lungs is horrible.

I'd agree with that punishment, IF.

They'd have to leave her under the water the last time she passed out, though.

Ugh, what the fuck is the world coming to?

On a bright note, she does live in TEXAS, and I doubt she will make it a year once the people in the community where she lives finds out she is there. That will make me rejoice.

I don’t know; maybe make it a yearly thing. Put her through it every year until she dies so that she never forgets what she put her own children through. Can even do it on the anniversary of her doing it to her children.

There ya go!

Gidan wins.

For some reason the idea of dowsing someone in gasoline and lighting them on fire seems to be one of the worst ways you could eat it. I think that should be her punishment.

Add tires around the neck.

Here is a good one. Take a pot and put two or three mice under it. Then fill the pot with fire and watch the mice burrow through the victim's abdomen.

You people talk a good game but i doubt most of you would have the stomach for your justice.

Of course not...that's why we weren't on trial for drowning our kids.

Had it been someone else’s kids she drown she'd be fried. Really weird we didn't fry her anyway... this is TX after all. We have a reputation to uphold.

She makes me sick. Mart's post about the child just wanting to be held brings tears to my eyes, because it is so true. You know that poor child was so confused and horrified. :(

And nobody thinks there was anything wrong with this woman mentally? She was by all accounts a very good Mom who was suffering psychosis from depression. She didn't plan to kill her child like the Ramsey Mom, nor did she have proxy by munchausen.

Yes, drowning her children was an abomination, but it's apparent this woman has severe issues. You just don't do that unless you have demons there taking over, and I guarantee she'll have to live with those demons torturning her every day for the rest of her life that the medications reduce the psychosis so she is cognizant.

She will be in an insane asylum for the rest of her life, and it's where she belongs. There is no doubt in my mind she is nucking futz.

Thing is, Lyion, I don't think she is delusional. I think she did it on purpose.

Ramsey's mom didn't do it. Unless something came up recently that I missed. PLease explain.

Im with Mart on this one, I think she was overwhelmed with being a mother and decided to kill her kids. If her sickness was so ad then why didn't she treat it after the first child was born when the "signs first emerged" and then why did she and her husband continue to have kids.

In her first trial, Yates was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison. An appeals court overturned the conviction last year because erroneous testimony about a "Law & Order" television episode that didn't exist could have influenced the jury.

What the fuck is this "Law & Order" stuff? Did they fake some testimony saying it was on the show or something?

half a dozen psychiatrists who testified that Yates was so psychotic that she didn't know her actions were wrong. They said that in her delusional mind, she thought killing the youngsters was right.

Yates' stayed in a mental hospital for about two weeks in April and 10 days in May 2001. Psychiatrists testified that she was catatonic and wouldn't eat and that her postpartum condition from Mary's birth in November worsened after her father died in March.

The state's key witness was Dr. Michael Welner, a forensic psychiatrist who interviewed Yates for two days in May. He testified that Yates killed the youngsters because she felt overwhelmed and inadequate as a mother, not for altruistic reasons.

Welner said that although Yates may have been psychotic on the day of the murders, it wasn't until the next day in jail that she talked about Satan, wanting to be executed and saving her kids from hell. He said the hallucination may have been triggered by the stresses of being naked in a cell on suicide watch and realizing what she had done.

Welner said Yates knew her actions were wrong and showed it in multiple ways: waiting until her husband left for work to kill them, covering the bodies with a sheet and calling 911 soon after the crime.

It looks like the trial came down to which experts the jury believed. In the end, the jury chose the defensive ones.

I don't really know what happened so don't take my questioning the wrong way. Mart Ray, what makes you think she did it on purpose? I would imagine anyone who kills their 5 children makes them insane.

This is basically my view.

Cases like this should basically have permanent institutionalization as the verdict. If someone is capable of drowning 5 of their own children due to severe psychosis, they are dangerous and don't belong out in society ever again. But I don't think there is a reason to make them suffer excessively for it - it doesn't accomplish anything if what they did was truly not under their control.
