I saw this on ABC News earlier today. A Syracuse University professor said that U.S. liberals face extinction if they don't start having enough babies to keep up with conservatives.

Professor Arthur Brooks said after studying numbers from the governmental General Social Survey, he found 100 unrelated liberal adults have 147 children, while 100 unrelated conservatives have 208 kids. Since 80 percent of the people with political opinions vote like their parents, that makes a difference.

I just wonder how many of those people are sheep and how many of them actually have their own opinions...

Eh the study is sorta correct, really though the liberals concieved more children due to the prudish nature of the conservatives, problem is they aborted to many.

I read an article some time ago that essentially stated the more "intelligent" a person is, the less likely they are to have big families... one or two kids at most, while the less-bright are more likely to have huge families - 3 or more kids.

Probably not much truth to it, but you never know.

It seems to mesh with the above statistics.

Those statistics are skewed by the Catholics, who are conservative, and who pump out crotch spawn faster than mexican rabbits.

Fucking guy at work, he's got 12 kids. Twelve. Doesn't "believe" in birth control see. One of these days his wife is just going to pop out number 13 and nonchalantly ask him to pass the salt.

I have a cousin like that.

She had 3 kids with a previous husband and now she got remarried to a born again and she's been pumping out one every year since.

Homeschooled and the whole bit. The kids are kinda creepy too.

Yeah, I can't understand why. This guy is such a joke. He makes $16/hr, gets almost $2k a month from the Air Force since he retired, not to mention about a $13k refund from the fed every spring, and he whines and moans about how he can't afford to buy his kids fresh fruit. But of course the wife can't get a part time job, because apparently Catholic women belong in the house.

Plant a fucking apple tree then. God damned degenerate.

I don't know where you or this guy get that idea, I don't believe there is any catholic teaching or rules that require women to stay at home.

I'd imagine with twelve kids she wouldn't be able to work anyways, especially if some of those kids are still young.

Which there is absolutely no reason for, to be honest, and it's just a matter of the newer leadership of the church coming around and removing this silly, antiquated church law.

The reasoning behind Catholic teaching on birth control goes something like this:

Birth Control via Pill/Patch/Shot changes the uterus so that a fertalized egg will not be able to attach itself to the lining. The argument is that once an egg is fertalized it is a living person. Manipulating the womans ability to receive a fertalized egg in her uteral lining is tantamount to abortion.

Birth Control via condom/sponge is more of a philisophical debate. The church teaches that since the act of sexual intercourse is an intimate act of love between two (married) people, you should not put anything artificial between that love.

If you believe that life begins at conception, then you can follow the reasoning of the first argument. However, I don't buy into the the second argument since (ideally) no fertalization would have occurred using this method.

I'm against abortion, but I see no problem with using a morning after pill.
