My Addon

Let me know what you think. If all you are going to say is "way to make a healbot" or "wow, this sure dumbs down an already dumbed down game" (I'm looking at you fin~) then save it. I know, and I don't care. I made this for my friends and I to use and am proud of my work that I put into it.
If you have any other comments, I'd be glad to hear them.

I'm pretty sure you can get banned for using something like that, Donnel.

zomg
no, not really

It's doesn't cast the spell for you, and there are plenty of other mods that do similar things I just wanted to make one of my own.
edit: by that I mean you still have to push buttons, it doesn't play the game for you, it just makes rank/spell and target choices for you using fully legal api commands.

This addon simplifies group/raid healing by automatically selecting the player most in need of healing within range and casting the highest rank spell you have which does not overheal.
So the descriptions a little off?
Just giving you a heads up. I know people have gotten banned for bots.

Don't fuck with Zanchief. He has a vastly superior intellect. And he'll hurt you bad too.

Recently Blizz changed some api functions to prevent spells from being automatically canceled if the target gets healed mid cast. This does not do that. When you press the button it checks all available targets and finds the one hurt the most. Then it goes through each spell you have. Rank 9 heals for 900 but the target needs 600, okay try 8. 8 heals for 700 but the target needs 600, okay try 7. 7 heals for 500 but the target needs 600... okay cast.
Press it a second time and it will start all over again by finding the most hurt target and seeing how much healing they need.
Nothing is automated in the respect that you still ahve to be there... still ahve to decide WHEN to press the healing button.. you just don't have to decide which target (emergency monitor?) or which rank (SmartHeal?) to use.

I personally wouldn't touch something like this, even if you use flash you're looking at 1.5 seconds (I think?) to heal, and that can make a huge difference. Healing is not about who needs it now, but who will need it the most when your heal hits, you have to think ahead. Lets say theres a mob that aes infrequently, if he does it, this mod would put everybody ahead of the main tank who is the one that really needs to be getting the heals. Even in single group situations, there are many times when you don't necessarily want to heal the lowest person (or whoever the mod decides is most in need, I don't know if it works on % of hp left or total hp left). Also there are times when you simply have to cut your losses, and let the overaggroing warlock die, or hope the mage ice blocks in time, while you heal the people who you know will need it.
That and it might not be the most efficient way of doing things, but I hate decursive enough, theres no way I would automate playing a priest to that point.
I don't mean this to be insulting or a flame in any way, I do think it's an interesting idea and well done with what is available. It's probably the best you can do to make a healbot
edit: just to add, it really wouldn't work with any mob that has decent dps, if you started a heal early this program would make you cast some low level heal because the tank is only missing 500 hp (for example). By the time your heal lands, he's down 4k and in some trouble but don't worry, you just healed him for 500!

I agree with you on many points and would never recommend this addon's use in end game raids. It's main uses that I could see would be 5-man groups or battlegrounds, which is where I've tested it the most and it works great in those places. Does it replace the need to have 1 or two heals on your bar at any given time (more for some places)? no, not by any stretch, but if you are in a situation where the factors you brought up were not an issue... and those places do exist... then the addon can really shine.
A bit of history: This project started as just a simple macro key that I found while perusing some forum on the wow pages. The macro selected the best healing touch spells available for the person you had targeted. I thought to myself, "Hey, that's a neat idea, I wonder if it could be expanded on."
So I did just that.
Then my brother in law caught wind of what I was doing and wanted to "play test" for me. He's a 42 year old father of four who gets to play maybe... 5 hours a week or less. He's not an avid computer gamer and in fact is rather clumsy at times with target switching. Having the ability to heal a critical target at one button press for him is a huge help. Seeing as how he will never (ever) raid end game, allowing him to enjoy himself now while "never learning to play a healer" is perfectly acceptable in my opinion.
Works for paladin, shaman, priest and druid (not the hot spells though)

ya for sure, there are situations when this would work pretty well, mainly I would see it if you were a backup healer there to keep everybody else up in a fight where there was AEing going on, or you were a backup healer in an instance. Would work well in a BG too.
I know there are some macros like that for rogues too, it even goes down to "is the mob casting, if so use kick, if not do I have enough energy to do ___" Customizable interfaces is one of the coolest differences between eq and wow, hell theres even a mod that lets you play no limit hold'em with other players while waiting on something or xping, kinda neat

I was thinking the exact thing Snero. For example watching a viscidus movie one time (i'm a newb and don't raid, my highest is only 53) I was thinking... hrm... that one healer that runs back with all the melee while the casters freeze wand it.. he should have my addon... spam spam spam spam, done :D
But that was just me and my big head. The addon checks range and adds in +heal so it would be pretty effective... in a backup... large group...no specific target required, type of setting.

Pretty cool Don, great for a pseudo heal bot, however any main healer who would use something like this in a raid or instance setting needs to delete their toon... and some idiot will try it.

Good for them is all I gotta say :D
I hope they get kicked from their guild for being an assclown!

after playing a healbot for months on end in groups and raids, is it really needed to have an add on for it?
I am just asking as Inever had a problem unless I wasnt paying attention and no add on can fix that. If its a mana problem one can always select lower lvl heals, as an example in most raids i only used rank for flash heal - and saved the bigger one for the tanks - and only ghealed when I was on the MT or in a controlled group.

Giving this a bump to see what you all think of the latest round of changes (see the changelog on Curse)
I added the ability to Shift (or alt or control) click on the party, raid or player frames to use the efficient healing macro on the selected unit. The options for this setup can be found in the options menu /hh opt or /healhelp opt. Other changes including increased +healing accuracy and a better reworking of how it chooses targets in general mode (no more trying to heal dead people!).
It's still a work in progress as I get alot of satisfaction seeing something I built come together.
Anyway, critique the latest version for me!
