caught my eye on gamespot. it's surprisingly cool. you can fly right into a planets atmosphere and land on one of the cities, without any "zone loading". i even hit a rain shower on an approach.
open beta is a tiny download, less than 50 megs. it downloads new systems and installs as you warp into them.
i'm Karl on "Lost in Space" server

not much, the graphics are really weak, but they work for the game. i'd imagine if your computer can run windows XP, it can handle this game.

The thing about EVE is that you cannot really powergame. Progression is fixed based upon passage of RL time. Thats what I liked about it as a casual player.

I am Treydon in game. I let my girlfriend's kid design my character and name him. He lost interest in Eve about 7 seconds later. I am poor though, so no begging bitch, 8mil more for my battlecruiser:p

I can create a toon. Pick the server. Get to the point of getting the note that ends with "You now have something to do on your day off" Then I get a Venture.exe error if I try to continue further

Heh I spent 100 million on an Blood Raider cruiser just before I quit playing the last time around.
Have they released Tier 3 Battleships yet? I think I'll come back for a bit when they do.

Its like $15 a month, plus you gotta buy it the first month(which gives you a month free) for like $30.

it also makes it impossible to ever catch up with people

I don't mind that too much honestly. I'm content in my niche. With the right out of game skills, you can overcome any deficiencies in the long run as well.
Also, what is your in game name and I'll send you a couple mil isk.
