Microsoft backs Novell's Linux platform

Microsoft Corp. has embraced Novell Inc.'s open-source software platform, forming a technological truce between two longtime antagonists who want to make it easier for the still-dominant Windows operating system and the increasingly popular Linux system to work together.

350million at that. Would be an interesting site to see MS release a quasi-open source product

we carried this story in one of our pubs this week. i was like "hmmm, interesting" and then remembered that i don't understand linux at all. i wish i was better at computers!

the whole goal of linux is to simply make things as difficult as possible for yourself, but give you that sense of superiority over people who just want stuff to work
