and yet Tigole endorsed warping Mini-Aten to the VT inzone~
they're really attempting to recreate EQ in every sense of the word, haha

Actually, it wasn't to inzone. It was to the 1st floor goo room, which was directly below her on the z-axis.
At the time it actually made some sense to do it too, exploitive as it was, because the pull was fundamentally exactly the same one you had to do to get the Dain down the well. Since that was the ONLY way to kill the dain, it was assumed to be an acceptible pull tactic, so we used it on mini-aten.

Not that I recall. Not long after we started using the tactic, that GM came in and suspended all the officers. We then cranked up the PR machine, and SOE got buried under an avalanche of posts & emails from all of the members of LOS Fandom. Woody, the guy who does /GU even made a special comic in support of our unbanning. All that happened within 24 hours, SOE caved, and rescinded the suspensions.
We never used that pull method again, however, except on the Dain, of course.

I would think warping a mob to a zone is a little different than installing a mod that deletes walls from the zone.

I liked VP far better than VT. VP was just annoying, cause you had to wait til the roamer pathing was just so. You also had to get it set up properly with non-see-invis trash, so that you could use the Ron pull method. You also abused the fact that druid snare lasted 15 min and would lower walking speed to 0, so stuff that wasn't aggro wouldn't roam if snared, andn combined snares with COH to place annoying trash in out of the way places to make pulls easier.
VT sucked cause it had the worst mob density of any zone in the game, and not only did it have huge visible mob density, it had invisible mob spawn trigger points as well. So, you could tag what looked to be 2 mobs, and 8 more would spawn in and all 10 would come smash you. VT also had that gawdawful AOE blind + stun, and mobs that would gate during it, which invariably resulted in a mega-train of absolute death.
VP ultimately was pretty fun. VT sucked ass. The only time I really had FUN in VT was on those long death runs we did with corpse dragging mages from boss to boss, cause trying to actually move through the trash content was pointless.
Besides which, VP led to one of the best self-owning comments in NT history, when Lyion claimed, "We almost have enough people with keys to hold the VP Inzone!", thus demonstrating he had absolutely no clue WTF he was talking about...

put yourself in the shoes of someone not actively pulling in VP
you'd sit for hour+ easily before a pull might happen

Are you guys still talking about Everquest raids from 5+ years ago?

Not for a raid. Went there in a group to hang out during the PoP era.

yeah, that doesn't count at all
during the PoP era, after the first VP change, it was actually pretty fun 1-2 group dungeon crawl
back in the day tho (even thru the end of velious) it was tedious because the trash was tough enough to be a pain, and respawned fast enough that you had to try and bypass all of it

I wish I had my VP key during the time it was the edge of content but I was probably level 35-40 back then. Most painful and boring raid for me was VT, Saryrn Flag, and the flag before Bertox.

it's really too bad they lost the guys who designed the better dungeons (i'm assuming the lost them, jeje)
There really hasn't been a good single group dungeon since Velious, and not the variety of fantastic dungeons since Kunark

I was gonna say BoT but nevermind. Karnor's v2.0.

BoT was good to XP in, but it wasn't particularly well designed(imo)
