Xbox questions

So I'm thinking about getting a (modded?) xbox to use for emulation... But really know nothing about it. Anyone familiar with this that could mind answering some questions? ^_~

1) Are there smooth, unlaggy SNES emulators for Xbox that can run the more memory intensive games? (Dreamcast failed here ;()
1b) If yes, happen to have a link?

2) Are there PS1 emulators for Xbox that can run burned/copied PS1 disks? (I've got copies of Silent Hill 1 and Lunar Silver Story sitting around that wanna get played, hehe ^^)
2b) If yes, happen to have a link?

3) Are mods needed to do these things?
3b) If yes, what is the easiest way to do such things for those of us who don't trust our ability to solder something without melting the flesh off a few fingers? ;D (Links if happen to know? :D)

you don't need an xbox to do snes emulation...

You do if you want a good one. I don't play emulators on my computer with my keyboard like a savage.

PS1 and N64 emulators are far from perfect but they are are very good.

SNES is flawless (unlike Dreamcast SNES emulators).

Plus you can download mediocre x-box games.

I don't use a keyboard for my emulators on the laptop either

you can pickup an older 700mhz laptop for like 100 bucks and do everything the old xbox can, yet still have enough horsepower to surf the net, watch movies/tv etc

Also, the laptop won't be able to play any movies on your TV without a lot of upgrades.

weird, mine does

so does my brothers, bizarre

we must have the only 2 old laptops in the world that are able to play movies!

ps, there are no games for the xbox that are also not available for pc (nothing worthwhile anyway)

Ninja Gaiden Black. You lose.

My brother is like you. He claims his PC is just as good as a modded x-box for playing movies and emulators. In reality it doesn't really compare. PC controllers suck unless you pay a ton for them, he has trouble playing a lot of video files, and he always has huge resolution issues when playing emulators.

It's a no brainer, the x-box is better. And I didn't claim your laptop couldn't play movies, but I doubt a 100$ laptop has a video card that you can plug into your television and not lose a ton of resolution.

heres what i wrote to yamori, he doesnt wanna buy cus no ps1 emu

i think $140 shipped should be cool

it emulates everything really well except ps1/n64/dreamcast/nintendo DS

you can hook it up to your computer thru a network and stream movies from your computer to the tv etc.

can DL and burn games for it

if you looked around on the 'net there are instructions to install a new hd if ya wanted

it's pretty cool, but i really only wanted to play ninja gaiden black :|

comes with:

- soft-modded xbox with original HD
- 1 official s-type green controller
- wires
- ninja gaiden black (in EB games case, no manual)
- splinter cell (i had to use this to crack the xbox so i could mod it)
- action replay (nothing thing needed to soft mod it)
- burned copies of 2 emu dvd's, 1 with all old school consoles + games except n64/ps1, other is all old hand helds and games, except DS
- prince of persia burned on dvd
- chronicles of riddick burned
- metal gear solid 2: substance i think is the name burned
- i think thats it

Getting a new HD in it is the hardest part of the mod.

logitech dual action (ps2 dual shock essential) are 20 bucks
I have zero issues playing video files(i've got like 800gb worth of tv/movies on my file server)

my laptop has an old 8mb ATI card with composite video out, which looks just fine on a tv (vga out to hook up to LCD tv's) it'll push out 720p resolution just fine (its native resolution is actually 1440x900 which is higher than 720p anyways)

so your modded xbox has 1 game that I can't get, yet I can do everything else, and do it in the car, or take it wherever, plus download anything else I need/want while on the road

yeah, xbox sure seems better

why?

how much horsepower do you think it takes to play a DivX/Xvid file?

500mhz with an 8 mb card is plenty~

A lot of EA games for the 360 are available on the PC. I bought a 360 controller that plugs into my comp and I play Need for speed carbon every night.

Solderless chip I put into mine.

I bent the wire initially so it took some work to get that all fixed up etc.

Put a 300gb HD in it and that was about it to be quite honest. Took a couple hours and some manual dexterity.
