All in all with the amount of driving I do and other factors, I spend roughly $15,000 a year on the essentials.

now that I'm at 60k, I just have a bigger house, a Jeep instead of an old Plyoumth(the lettering was wrong on the tailgate omg) and a queen size bed instead of a single

my quality of life hasn't really changed, I just have a bigger pile of stuff, most of which I really don't need

I could live cheap in Malaysia... Especially with some of those chicks that Mark has in his pics. That Dawn chick is hot...

Whats the approximate purchasing power of the US dollar in Malaysia?

Maybe I can save up some cash and live like a king there. XD

Now that you've quantified it, doesn't it irritate you a bit?

It's roughly 3.4 to the US dollar in Malaysia.

Some examples...

I can go to a nice restaraunt and spend less than RM50 for myself not including alcohol.

My rent for a three bedroom 900 square foot apartment is RM750 a month. I have an amazing view of the ocean, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a squash court, and a sauna. My bills including my cell phone, water, electricity, and broadband totals around RM500 a month.

Cars are insanely expensive. A new Honda Civic 2.0 costs Rm124,800 (I was checking it out the other day;p) Trucks are a cheaper compared to cars as they are considered work vehicles. A new Mitsubishi Triton is RM94,000.

Alcohol is rather expensive. A can of beer at 7-11 is RM7 to RM9. A 0.75 litre bottle of JW Black Label at a club is roughly RM300.

I live off $1,000 a month, and I live quite decently. Without alcohol I'd be saving a ton of money every month.

Unfortunately, in order for ones quality of life to drastically change, we need a windfall. Tripling ones salary allows for more stuff, but not for anything large. Especially as people get older, get married, have kids, etc.

There's nothing to be irritated by. You either enjoy life and the ride, or you are a bitter person.

Huh, so thats roughly $369 USD a month for a nice apartment with basic utilities? That's pretty hot.
