Defense Contractors and the Iraq war

This is an interesting Playboy article on defense contractor Lockheed and the Iraqi war. It 's long though but worth the read.

Of course, all the frothing at the mouth about lobbyists, money and special interests can seem from outside the Beltway as much ado about nothing. The government hands out contracts. The beneficiaries or those who want to be beneficiaries buy steak dinners for the officials who hold the purse strings. Big deal. The problem, though, is that, upon closer scrutiny, this is not how the system works. It's actually much more sinister than that, allowing the interests of America to be subverted by the interests of corporate America. As you'll see here, your elected officials did not deliberate on how best to protect their constituents, decide bombing Iraq was the best way and then order some provisions and weapons. On the contrary, this is the story of how Lockheed's interests, as opposed to those of the American citizenry, set the course of U.S. policy after 9/11.

I have a hard time believing that good old american capitolism and greed had anything to do with 9/11

Capitalism is nonrestricted private economic exchange between mutually consenting people or organizations.
When corporations collude with government officials to be awarded legislative favors, contracts, and use the "revolving door" approach to make war for personal profit and to pilfer the taxpayer's money, that is NOT capitalism - about the closest description to this insane stuff is facism.

I think Evermore shoulda did a /sarcasm back on cuz it went right over Harrison's head.
And yes Playboy has articles. In fact, articles that are better than a lot that are in print. Oh and the "Omg playboy has articles?! dur..." joke, old.
