So, now my Chargers are coachless... I wonder who AJ will tap to be his guy and to fuck up a team that was near to the Super Bowl...

This thread has possibilities.
Word on the street is AJ is chasing after Pete Carroll. I can't see Carroll going to a place where he doesn't have power.

I don't understand why people assume high profile college coaches are going to instantly win in the NFL
I can't even think of one that's been relatively successful in the recent past
college is just about recruiting the best players and playing the softest schedule
nfl actually forces you to do a bit more

Jimmy Johnson didn't fare too poorly.
A good coach is a good coach, but I agree it takes a different mindset in the NFL.

Its interesting that they waited till now to fire him. I would have thought that they would have fired him right after the season, seeing how now most of the coaches have already signed. Unless he already had someone in mind for it.........

Pete Carroll would be stupid to leave his upcoming team to go to the NFL, he won't...gauranteed.

Depends on how much Gauranteed money he would get, and how much control of the team as well. He has an amazing position at USC right now, would take him a lot to get moved from there.
However the only reason i can see Schottenheimer being fired this late in the offseason, is if a VERY high profile guy came available. Carrol's name is on the top of that list.

If Pete Carroll leaves USC this season to coach another team, I will quit posting on NT for a year.

Not many people will, what exactly is your point?

My point is, at least be humorous or GTFO. Using the same shit over and over again isn't working for you, try something else, hell there's plenty of things to choose.

What about Cowher?
The San Diego team right now is just like the Steelers were. Great LBs, great running game, young QB.
Figure it would be a pretty good fit.

Cowher doesn't want to coach right now.

Technically Cower cannot coach for anyone other than the steelers this coming season. After that he is free to chose wherever he would like to go.

According to ESPN, Cowher is apparently one of Schottenheimer's best friends, so the odds of him even talking to San Diego are about nil.
