Dealing with future in-law

Thought ya'll would appreciate this...

For Thanksgiving, Jen and I drove out to California so that we could have a small vacation and so I could meet her family. That's also when I proposed. Anyway, I met her 23y/o brother and it turns out he's a pretty big anime fan. Watches most of his stuff via netflix. I told him that he should check out our website and see if there are any titles that he would be interested in. If so, email them to me and I'll see if I can get them to him. Next day (before we left) he emails a list that's like, every show we have :-x . No big deal, I'll see what I can do.

So... I get back in town, I'm thinking... I seriously want to make a good impression on my new fiance's family, so I'm really going to try and get him a bunch of DVDs. I shit you not, the dude started emailing me 3 to 4 times a week... asking for the status on his DVDs. It was crazy.

Anyway, I'm leaving out there tomorrow morning... Jen's grandfather passed away last weekend so we are going out for the services. I've amassed a pretty impressive collection for the dude. It's like, 11 entire series... retail value is $480 ... 51 DVDs total, collectors sets, etc. I got him EVERY SINGLE series he asked for, besides 2. All for free.

This is the collection, right before I packed it up:

I swear to Xenu, if he emails me about the remaining 2 series when I get back... I'm going to snap. I mean, I know he's only asking for what was offered to him... but... he was asking about them on a DAILY basis almost... ever since the beginning of December. Good lord.

If he mentions them, how should I react? I should paste some of the emails he's sent... just so ya'll can see what I'm talking about.

Vonk, Im sorry to hear about your fiance's grandfather passing. I am glad to hear that you are making that big step.

As far as the future brother in law goes, when you give him what you have already gotten him, tell him that you had to jump through hoops and call in some favors to get what you have, and you doubt very seriously you can get the other two, BUT if the circumstance arises, which you doubt it will, you will definetly keep him in mind.

I think that is a polite way of telling him that you went way out of your way to give him what you did get him, and he should be grateful for that. If he keeps pestering you, just tell him that you havent heard anything yet, but YOU will let HIM know if anything arises.

I would worry more about impressing her parents than her 23 year old brother. The collection you got him is more than ample, and honestly just tell him to stop asking about it, that you're doing what you can.

Congratulations on the engagement!

I think it'd even be better if we were slightly more vague about it and just said we were from the internet. And of course we'd have to wear fatigues and pack sniper rifles too.
