The NFL draft is today and the Raiders took Russell with the first pick. Millen took another receiver, Johnson, with Detroit's pick.

Pick 14 done, Quinn still on the board as well. He may drop to the second round now, as no remaining team in the first round really needs a QB.

The Bears should pick Quinn if he drops that far.

If im the Detroit Lions and Matt Millen i see a fantastic opportunity here, since Quinn has been dropping. With no suitor in the next 5-6 picks, i may be looking at Denver at pick 21 (22?) to possibly trade with.

If i'm Millen, i offer my second round pick (second pick in round 2) and my third round pick, and a 5th or 6th round to Denver (or other teams around that area) for their first round, and Draft Quinn.

A high price for Millen for sure, but if you can get Quinn and Calvin Johnson in the first round, couple those with Mike Williams and Furry (other WRs for Det) and Kevin Jones at running back and you have a great young nucleus on Offense.

Quinn could be plugged in as a starter after running a Pro style offense at ND, and bring alot of excitement to Detroit.

On a side note, I LOVE the 49ers pick in the draft. There is also some rumblings that Seattle with trade the 49ers Darrel Jackson, for their 4th round pick.

Browns did what i thought the Lions would do, Traded up and Got Brady Quinn. I really feel like Quinn is going to be a great QB in this league.

I'm amazed the Dolphins didn't take Quinn.

Good move by the Browns. They got their franchise LT and Quinn.

so i was watching this today and imagine my surprise to see a friend that lived a few houses down from me when we were tots get drafted first round - how exciting, i didn't even know he'd gone on to college to play ball, didn't keep up with him in hs, though he was pretty highly regarded on our team then. pretty neat to see 2 people you went to school with in the nfl!

I also like what the 49ers did today draft-wise. For the cost of swapping 1st rounders with the Colts (and if the 49ers do well, that might not be that many slots) and a 2nd rounder, the 49ers get the 3rd best rated OT in the draft, and get an additional 4th in the bargain. Throw that in with the #1 rated LB, who Nolan was incredibly high on after coaching him in the Senior bowl, and yeah, 49ers are doing quite well, methinks. That opinion will only go up if they DO end up trading a 4th (or even 2 4ths) to Seattle for Jackson, as we really do need a WR.

Yep, 49ers just traded one of their 4ths, the 124th overall pick, for Jackson from the Seachickens. That plus Lelie plus Davis being healthy now plus that 3rd round pick officially solidifies our passing game. I'm now VERY happy with the 49ers' draft day weekend. Only thing else we could have used is a monster nose tackle type, but ah well, we got a great LB and some possibly decent DEs.

This Lion's draft has me giving up watching football for life.

Taking Calvin Johnson was really the only option left for them. He is a Randy Moss/TO type reciever. This isn't the reach the last few WRs were. This guy will be special.

I think the Lions next year will be a much improved team. They got a great project QB in Drew Stanton. They have a good vet in Kitna, and they have an awful lot of sick offensive weapons.

I'm still baffled by the Dolphins selection. Ginn is not Calvin Johnson. Yes, he can return ok, and has speed, but he's a fragile player who at times disappears in games.

The hard part of evaluating any draft is waiting the 3 years it'll take to see how the picks pan out. First glance has me thinking San Fran and Dallas won the draft wars. I'm still shocked the Hags traded their best WR to a division rival.

I'm happy with the Ted Ginn Jr. pick actually. I think he has potential to be a superstar.

Why a WR, especially a questionable one, when you have such a glaring need at QB, and Brady Quinn was sitting right there? Makes no sense. Look for him to torch the phins every time they meet in the future.

I mean, I don't care how good a WR the guy is, unless you're talking about Jerry Rice re-incarnated, he's not going to impact your team the same as a QB. And somehow, I doubt this guy is even remotely in Rice's class. Hell, I doubt even Calvin Johnson will begin to approach Rice's records.

Brady Quinn won't even be a Daunte Culpepper.

Ted Ginn probably won't be as good as Welker, the guy they gave up to New England.

I liked the fact ESPN did a report that 1/2 the first round QB selections wash out.

Quinn got a lot of press for being polished and being a Notre Dame QB. I have no idea if he'll work out. I'd give him a better chance than Jamarcus, just because he didn't go to Oakland.

Quinn did absolutely nothing in big games against quality defenses.

All accounts say he had a great NFL workout and teams still didn't want him because of his past play on the field.
