I'm not going to cheer someone's death...but it's hard not to.

*yawn* I thought the gates of hell seemed a bit brighter this morning. No wonder.

As much I disagreed with his positions I will not stoop to the level of immaturity and disrespect that many on the far left most assuredly will.

And it's people like.... I wont mention any names... that give the left a bad name with acts of stupidity like celebrating someone's death.
Did I like the man? No.
Do I agree with what he stood for? No.
Am I am going to gloat and cheer his death? No.
Many will - and it is those people that end up doing nothing but giving ammunition to the right to stear public support away from anything considered "liberal" - no matter how noble the cause.

Ok so, if Michael Moore died I'm sure no one from the right would have anything negative to say.
Speaking of which, where has Mindia been anyway?

I am sure they will. But, if you're trying to gain support, increase your membership - then you need to show you're better than your adversary and that means being the "bigger person."
When liberals go off the deep end and cheer about someone dying - that association sticks. People think "what a bunch of dumbasses" and from that point anything else they associate themselves with gets less consideration, or taken less serious.
Let the right cheer MM's death... let them show the world how childish and rediculous THEY are. The rest of us can show the world that we're bigger than that.

Fuck, the man blamed people of my faith for 9/11, and Robertson and the zealot sheep followers of those two bought it hook line and sinker. I'm supposed to feel bad he's gone and can't do more evil? I might feel bad for the people that cared about him, as any loss is painful, but be sorry he's gone? Not a chance.
Probably an unenlightened position, sure, but I'm as human as the next guy.

Hah, I am agreeing with you twice today. Armageddon is coming at last.
Anyway... yes, you are correct in that it does indeed give the Right more ammo, and, in light of that, in general, I will simply have nothing to say one way or the other out loud, because it simply isn't worth it.
However, here on this message board where there are no politicians to be leary of, and I can speak my mind free of persecution from hard core right wing activists, I will openly say that I will gladly offer up 2 silver to pay the ferryman to cart away that horrible waste of flesh and disgrace of humankind, and pray for the rapid shoving of whole pineapples up his anus daily for the pain and suffering that fucking hypocrite has caused over the years. I'm not sorry he's gone. I will be ready with another 2 silver when PAt Robertson kicks it.

From my point of view, this has nothing to do with being left or right as my political beliefs fall under both categories.
The guy was a fucking asshole, plain and simple.

Been wanting to post this, figure this topic is fitting for it.
Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible,
Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

He also provided housing and support for unwed mothers and alcoholics. It doesn't mitigate the hatred and bias he spewed....it was at least something.

And Mussolini invigorated the Italian economy and got the trains running on time. Don't expect me to campaign for Il Duce's canonization any time soon, however...

that was good. one thing i never understood is why females are christians, considering their options. the bible blames all of mankind's downfall on the female. the koran says adam and eve took the fruit together. never followed why women would want to be part of a religion that blames them for ruining the world

The Koran isn't exactly a bastion of womens lib ideals either.
<this one is for you Diekan>
What women really like about the whole Christian version of Adam and Eve is the part where Eve coerces Adam to do her bidding.

Any woman with a nice ass stuffed into a tight pair of jeans can get a man to do her bidding - it doesn't take the Koran or the King James Version.

Yes but here is the story of the first woman on earth, naked, convincing the first man on earth to do what she wants. Tactics may have been refined, but Eve invented that shit.

Well this also brings up one of my usual religious conversation pieces.
Religions aren't magazine subscriptions you subscribe to by choice.
You don't go through religions searching for your favorite and go "Hey, that's cool!" and then call yourself a believer of "X".
Well, you could, and many do, but then you'd be a complete and utter tool.
Let's take this hypothetical for a bit. Christianity is the only true religion in its base form. One God, Heaven and Hell, etc.
If I decided "I don't like this whole Hell idea, I'm going to be an <insert here>"
I'm wrong and my choice meant fuck-all. My subscription to <insert -ism here> was a waste of money.
I am open to the fact that any religion could be "correct". I am also open to the fact that ALL of our religions could be the furthest from the truth.
Things I am not open to are people who will tell you that you are wrong. There is no right or wrong in a debate of beliefs and faith.
