So these two pokemon games were released on the same date to huge critical acclaim. They both got 100% on rotten tomatoes and pretty much everywhere I read about them people are raving.

Has anyone played them? if so, which one do I play first? Does it matter.

I have never played Pokemon before, the critics say if you never have, these games are a good way to start.

I wouldn't be buying them, I have the M3 simply for the DS so I can just download them for free, which may be my only saving grace.

Am I less of a man for even considering this?

I remember playing Pokemon Blue on an emulator, I liked it. It was a well done RPG in my opinion.

My 11 year old is a Pokemon fanatic and says these are th best Pokemon games yet.

I'm trying it out now on an emulator. My PC runs it slow =(

Which one do I play first? Diamond or Pearl?

They are probably the same game with just a slight difference... thats the way most Pokemon games have been iirc.

My brothers have both been playing this way more than should be acceptable for people their age.

When you look at it from an objective point of view, there really isn't any difference in shame between playing pokemon and final fantasy.

I have Diamond and I haven't enjoyed a pokemon game this much since the originals came out.

They are fun but they don't make innovative use of the touch features. Where they succeeded was in making the interface very easy to use.

It doesn't matter which you play first they both have the same story and gameplay. Where they differ is that each game has a few Pokemon that the other game doesn't. This is to encourage people to trade with other players to get the ones not available on their game.

You also aren't required to play the previous games to play this game. They are all basically the same game, just with new pokemon and a few new features.

Go ahead and give them a try. You'll actually be surprised how attached to the game you'll get.

I'm playing Diamond, my daughter is playing Pearl. Its awesome. Cant wait for the Pokemon on the Wii to come out later this month.

And so I have six pokemons. I am assuming I should keep them all around the same level. Which means I have to go back to the lower level area to raise the levels of the other five considering I have only been using the same one since the start, who is now level 14.

Not sure if it still works the same way, but what I did in earlier versions was place the pokemon that I wanted to level up first in the group & switched in my hard hitter to kill thus sharing the exp.

Yeah I noticed you can do that. Maybe that's a good idea. The only drawback is, it doesn't look like a good split. Like if I kill a mob for 97 xp on my main guy, I will kill the same mob with two guys and they each get like 17 xp.

Maybe I was just looking at it wrong, or it wasn't actually the same mob, just the same type but a much lower level.

I'll try it out tonight.

I dunno if it's like the old pokemon but the idea is not to use your stronger pokemon at all that way your weaker guys get all the exp. That or burn your special items and just have 1 pokemon out and have him get all the exp himself.

Yeah but if I use the weaker ones where I am currently at in the game they get pwned. Which is why I would have to go back to the noob area.

Pokemon Yellow was the best, Pikachu followed you around np.

Yeah I just put my lower pokemon as the first on the list then switch him out right away for a stronger pokemon. The stronger pokemon wont get much exp, but the lower pokemon will increase in level very fast. I never go back to the lower areas, I always just look for trainers. Trainers are the best exp in the game.

Also, later in the game you get an item called the Exp Share. If you give it to a pokemon to hold, that pokemon will gain a portion of all exp earned in each battle. You also get an item called the VS Seeker. You use it near trainers you have already battled and allows you to battle them again with pokemon that are close to your level.
