The Solar system is *NOT* part of the Milky Way Galaxy, not originally at least.

Yes, that's right. We're part of a dwarf galaxy that originally orbited the Milky Way but has been so distorted by the gravity of the Milky Way that it looks like a giant letter C with the Solar system right at the point where that C intersects the disk of the Milky Way.

This finally explains why when we look at the Milky Way, it's angled across the sky. If we'd developed in the Milky Way, we should be in the same plane as the band of stars we see as the milky way, not angled to it.

How does Shakespeare? How does Michelangelo? How does Da Vinci? How does Stephen fucking Hawking influence your daily life? If that's all you care about, fine, ignore this, and you can go back to watching Oprah or daytime sitcom reruns whatever the fuck it is you do. Those of us with a soul, or interests about the great wild world and universe around us will be once more awed at the beauty and complexity of the universe.

SOrry, I worry too much about the things that affect me, like working to pay the bills and put food in my childs belly. Wether we are or are not part of the Milky Way is not something I care about. You don't have to get so defensive over your precious stars. Spaceboy.

actually they hypothesize that the realigning of the two galaxies could be a cause of global warming, that the sun is burning hotter and all planets are getting warmer as a result.

There are some other cool results of this too:
- A series of Martian atmosphere transformations increasing its biosphere quality.
- A first stage atmosphere generation on the Moon

Well, most of that page is taken word for word from http://astsun.astro.virginia.edu/~mfs4n/sgr/ with the rest coming from the abc.au and other astro blog link listed at the bottom. So, I'd say it's fairly well sourced, or really is just a copy of what otehrs have written, just coallated. Dunno about the rest of the site, but I think this story is pretty solid overall.

That page is a submitted hypothesis from 2003 to an Astrophysical Magazine. Their observations based on the proximity of the Sgr system are different from what is represented on the website you linked to.

The other sourcing seems a tad off from what is presented, and given the front page of that website, I don't find it very credible

Actually, it was a serious question. Is it pretty astounding that for as long as I remember we have always been told that we are part of the Milky Way Galaxy, and now we are not? Sure, it is very interesting. I was asking a valid question. How does this change effect us directly if at all. I asked because I figured Arlos would know. He took it the wrong way, now I just wanna have some fun with it. Arlos wants my hot body.

And to answer the last part, my life couldn't be going better. I have a wonderful man that is in love with me and I am in love with him, and the chemo has been working. They are talking full remission. So I am great right now. Thanks so much.

So you sure you didn't mean that snidely at all? Also, "not to be a bitch" generally means that everything you are gonna say afterwards is bitchy so were you really trying to be a bitch and trying to twist it now or do you actually want to know how this affects us all?

And actually, how does this affect us? Does it or is it just interesting knowledge? Will there be a slew of new research now as a result of this?
