I've been building my own systems for about 8 or 9 years now. It seems that I could always build a higher-performance system from scratch by buying all the parts at Newegg, rather than buying a pre-built name-brand system. Now lately I've been noticing some of these factory machines like HP, Compaq, etc. and they are pretty powerful with decent graphics cards, and they're only like $399-599! You could by a graphics card that costs more than some of these systems. lol So anyway, grats on the computer!

it's not a real video card, that's an onboard chipset, and it's a fantastic card for a media center pc

if he was looking for a gaming computer, he made a dumb decision


(most of the HTPC"s I've built have been around that chipset to tell the truth. it'll run 1080p np, and it'll play WoW with no issues)

Specs don't matter when you buy garbage from HP which uses junk components.

For video card, it is all in how much you want to spend. If you want to drop 500 bucks, that'll get you the best card in existence these days, the nVidia 8800 GTX. $300 will get you a (sizeable) step down, the 8800 GTS.

If you want something around 125 bucks, you can probably find a GeForce 7950 for that much. If you are going to need DirectX 10, though, you'll want to get a 8600 of some variety. Apparently the 8600s are slightly slower than the 7900 series, but the 7900s won't do DX10, and the 8600s will.

If you never play video games at all, especially graphically intensive ones like first person shooters, etc. then you'll probably be OK with your current oen, as Tikker said.

That will keep you going for a while, and play everything you need.

You posted you played WOW, and that card is stellar for WOW and will easily handle all the lastest games with your PC, while not generating much heat and having a lifetime warranty from EVGA.

Yeah I have the 7950 with 2 gigs of ram and a 3.0 ghz processor and I get 50-70 FPS all the time with everything turned on high.

does your puter have a turbo button?

it's got 128 mb onboard with the ability to borrow another 128 ram

I think you missed the part where it's a media center PC, and not a gaming machine and 6150 WITH TURBOCACHE is just fine

Honestly, if you play WOW and don't see an issue, then don't waste money upgrading your PC.

WOW has really low sys requirements. I wouldn't worry about what others say.
