Event ID: 59

These errors started after bootup on the 23rd. There's generally a string of them, right after bootup. I didn't install anything between boots on th 18th & the reboot on the 23rd, but windows did do whatever updates were released by MS.

I've scoured the vast interweb, and I do see some similar issues, but they're only similar because of the event id:59. Apparently event ID: 59 is pretty goddamned generic.

There appears to be very little clue what these are about...so I thought I'd give this place a shot. Here they are, in order, as they appear at every boot up of my Intel Core 2 t7200 laptop running 2 gb of ram & xp pro.

I am logged in as admin, & this login had absolute godlike rights over every file found in the windows\system32 directory. It seems like some process is trying to access or <?> with the files listed here (shell32.dll, etc, which makes me nervous...) but event viewer doesn't say what exactly is trying to access those files.

I should also say: I've run avg antivirus since I've had the machine, though I've never had a virus, and I've downloaded a ran a couple spyware-searching & destorying apps. Nothing is showing up.

Heeeeeellppp<?>

use a restore point prior to the 23rd.

The small time I spent searching for info on the error and source pointed to missing C++ runtimes.

that seems logical, and I did restore to the 17th. Same items are still showing up in the list
