there was a semi decent movie about this a few years ago (can't think of the name tho)

these guys would create a little virtual world (just a city I think) and then they'd go down and interact with the denizens. at some point one of the denizens came to an epiphany and went and found the border and realized he was a virtual person

he then in turn questioned the "creator" guy about whether or not he was real

then the main guy of course had nightmares and shit and went and checked out his world and found the boundary

then the scene pulls back to the "real" world with a bunch of scientists talking about how of all the worlds they created, this was teh only one that ended up creating their own virtual worlds, etc etc

kinda neat

it came out 5 or 6 years before the truman sho

13th floor isn't ringing any bells, lemme check IMDB

It was the 13th Floor. Guarantee it.

At the end the virtual guy takes over the real guy's personality and they go for a walk on the beach or some shit.

nope, wasn't 13th floor

at the end of the movie, the main guy tracks down the end of his "universe" and then the camera pulls back to the real real people (if that makes sense) and they talk about how it was odd that their virtual world created a virtual world
