I need some direction.

what should I get? I need it for writing the book. I need my iPod to be able to hook up to it and I need to be able to burn CD's.

I am getting an Apple (not changing my mind and not interested in your criticism) and there is no Apple store around here.

here are two from craigslist I found and I can get either one. One is a laptop and the other isn't...

I would recommend not getting a used laptop.

I've never bought anything from craigslist, but I'd be sure you have some sort of purchase protection.

I used one for about a year and pretty much fell in love with it. I didn't really like iPhoto but then again, I didn't learn how to properly use it, either.

We don't have an Apple store here in town but Best Buy and Circuit City are authorized sellers..think I'm gonna try to find a notebook there today. I think laptops are the way to go.

My concern is internet connectivity from a Mac when I am not in my apartment. For some reason (I may have completely made this up in my own head) I am thinking I can't connect from someone's connection with a Mac IP. I have no idea how this works. I'm finding out today.

There is no difference networking wise between a Mac and a PC, Araby.

IP = IP, Operating Systems do not matter.
