hehe..some folks are saying it's going to end up being the game of the year. It might if Halo 3's multiplayer ability doesn't see the light of day this year.

People are still interested in Halo?

Yeah people are talking about Halo 3 like it's the fucking second coming...I with you guys on the opinion of the game.

It's just an average FPS. They release about 100 of them every year just as good.

I liked it when HALO 1 first came out, then all the levels were the exact same...then HALO 2 was the exact same...not expecting much different in HALO 3

Ditto. It's another ok FPS with good graphics, story, and the elemental stuff is nice, but it's essentially a la Half Life 2 and many other FPS'.

Good game. Nothing special.

Halo2 was fun with friends, sitting around drinking...

But anyone who takes it to the point of competitive play is a retard, in my opinion.

Dunno, there are a lot of competitive tournies here in Pensacola. http://www.panhandlegamers.com hosts a lan every 2 months. Great prizes, money, ect.

I play other FPS competitively, though nowhere near the professional level, and we consider Halo a joke.

Halo has ALWAYS been about playing with friends. Getting two or more Xbox's hooked up at someones house, fragging each other and shouting insults across the room are some of the best times I have ever had playing games on a console. I would never put Halo on the same level as Half Life as far as single player or "internet" play is concerned but the "system link" LAN party capabilities of the Xbox and particularly Halo 1 and 2 are fucking brilliant. The maps, weapons, vehicles, etc are a BLAST and make for a great multiplayer experience even in 4 player, split screen mode.

I'm more excited about Crysis. Of course I'd be even more excited If I had a rig with a chance of running the game.

Fuck yeah Toss. I suck at HALO, but it was fun doing it like that. Most Ive ever played was 16 people with a TV in each of the 4 rooms of a dorm suite - close enough to be able to yell and talk shit, but far enough away to talk as a team and not have the others able to spy. That shit was fun as hell

you could say the same thing about most multiplayer games

most fun I've ever had with a FPS was probably getting 6 or 8 guys together in my living room and playing unreal tournament, or that wolfenstein multiplayer game (enemy territory or something)


madden and nhl are amazing games with a multitap

Yeah, LAN parties are fun but xbox's are cheaper, more portable, plug and play and 4 people can play on one console. That's why Halo has sold millions of copies, not because it's the "OMG! BEST F#@KING GAME EVAR!" Well, that and the fact that it's an extremely well executed FPS on a console. Most developers just don't get it right. The controls are clumsy, too sensitive, not sensitive enough, etc but Halo, CoD, Half Life 2 and Doom3 all executed really well to the Xbox IMO and with the exception of Half Life 2, they all have great single and multiplayer games.

I made it through about half of the first one and quit single player, and played about an hour through the second one on single player before I got bored and only played multiplayer with at least 4 people from there on out
