Since when have we asked to take anything while invading another country? We assume that they are forthgiving in their oil because of our troop support in their "Op. Iraqi Freedom."

For people who have been downrange this is a good thing. But the military does need to start spending their money in smarter ways. Get better armor, most of us would rather go with out it than use armor that you cant move in weighs in at 60+ pounds. Stop giving the new shit to people who dont leave the base ever. The new 1116 Hummers came out, and well they did not go to the off base patrols but rather to the ones that stay on base. For facilties if they would stop buying cheap ass shit they prolly would save more since they have to fork over money to fix it all the time. Worst part its not even the troops breaking it the shit is just breaking( dont buy anything from Turky). Just my 2cents

maybe the oil companies, that have easily made several trillion on profits over the past few years, might start to finance this...

May I quote here from and about one of the architects of this war, Wolfowitz?

In his testimony, Mr. Wolfowitz ticked off several reasons why he believed a much smaller coalition peacekeeping force than General Shinseki envisioned would be sufficient to police and rebuild postwar Iraq. He said there was no history of ethnic strife in Iraq, as there was in Bosnia or Kosovo. He said Iraqi civilians would welcome an American-led liberation force that "stayed as long as necessary but left as soon as possible," but would oppose a long-term occupation force. And he said that nations that oppose war with Iraq would likely sign up to help rebuild it. "I would expect that even countries like France will have a strong interest in assisting Iraq in reconstruction," Mr. Wolfowitz said. He added that many Iraqi expatriates would likely return home to help.

Mr. Wolfowitz spent much of the hearing knocking down published estimates of the costs of war and rebuilding, saying the upper range of $95 billion was too high ... "To assume we're going to pay for it all is just wrong,"

And, finally:
"We are dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon." – Wolfowitz, March 28, 2003.

Ahhh, with such brilliant minds at the helm, is it any wonder things have turned out to be such a sterling success?
