Just bought it for $20. Seems pretty good so far. I have a level 11 Human Champion.
Anyone else play?

Just in beta. There wasn't enough meat to really entice me to spend 50 bucks and buy it.

Meat? The game is absolutely massive.
And it's $20 now.

I'd be willing to try some of these games if they had a Mac client.

It was generic classes and quests from 1-15. I quit beta and left, and went back to EQ2/WOW.
Honestly, I'm more interested in something new and different.
Shadowbane is free and just did server wipes. I'll do that if I'm bored and want entertainment. I haven't read anything for LOTR that makes me want to pick it up.

I have a level 50 minstrel on Landroval server.
Woah, I guess it is a coincidence that I chose the same server. Actually, I followed Spifits there.
What's your name in game? Do you still play?

Yes, I still play. My minstrel's name is Faneyolen. I'm usually on pretty late on my days off and on until about 9 PM Central on the days I work.
If you catch me on, send me a tell. I also have some lower level characters I could team up with you on.
You picked the fun server. Landroval is the unofficial rp server.

I used to play later every night but I work graveyard shift now. If you're on Thursday or Friday night, I should be on then. What's your character's name?

I saw this on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX0eeZzyJas - Stones (from UO)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX6AD9ia ... re=related - Anvil of Crom

I know they aren't actually playing the song, but they had to write the arrangement etc etc that produces it.

What exactly is going on there? How is music played in this game?

Most of those songs are played using ABC notation that the game engine can interpret and reproduce, but apparent;y there is now a system in place in the game that allows you to write compositions within the game engine that can then be replayed. You can also play this stuff manually if you are good enough and program all the notes to your keyboard.

That is either really cool or really stupid.

It's pretty cool. The ensembles some people do are amazing. On my server there's a kinship named The Mighty Mighty Bree Tones that usually puts together an in game concert every so often. I'll stop and listen to a song or two if I catch them playing as I'm running through Bree.
I've downloaded a few ABC files to play but haven't tried out the newer music system yet.

The day I can plug in a guitar and play a song in-game, during battle as a buff, I might never leave my house.

This is a fun game, and it's a free download from LOTRO.com
