Seems like a lot to give up for a guy who's about 100 years old. It seems Dallas is convinced they have to make a movie to compete with the Lakers and the Suns, and Cleveland probably priced Kidd up a lot.
This all means nothing since the deal is so far dead because George has a no trade clause.

I don't know hey the Nets are trading Kidd. Even though they are under .500, they are still in playoff position.

Like Phoenix acquiring Shaquille O'Neal, this trade feels like panic, this time by the Mavericks, John Hollinger writes.
this is pretty crazy, considering the price. my freakin lord. how much longer does kidd have? your trading all of that for a season or two?

It's a done deal with the revised package for Kidd.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3253107Those details: Kidd, forward Malik Allen and swingman Antoine Wright go to Dallas for 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop, swingman Trenton Hassell, guard Maurice Ager, Van Horn via sign-and-trade, first-round picks this June and in 2010 and $3 million in cash. The teams originally planned to move Wright to Dallas in a separate transaction but were able to make the salary-cap math work in a single trade after the deal was reconfigured over the weekend.

I think this deal is ok for Dallas. Its certainly better than the Shaq to Phoenix trade. While it does address one need ( a ball distributer), it certainly didnt help their glaring need for a "Big".

It actually hindered them by trading away a serviceable big.
There was a rumour that Avery wanted to move Dirk in the off season because of his shit play against the Warriors in the playoffs last year. Management turned him down.

I certainly agree. I was shocked to see that Diop was involved in the trade. Smart move by management to shoot down trading Dirk, that would have been a huge blunder, imho.
I think that this trade makes Dallas a better team, but not by much. I deffinatly do not think it was worth the cost at a small upgrade.
