I never heard about him until today, but to think of how much of the gaming industry he changed amazes me.

i hadn't known his name before, though i dabbled in some d&d back in elementary, 1981-86

EVERY role-playing game out there should make an honorary Mob called Gygax....

He must have failed his saving throw.

RIP Mr. Gygax.

If not for him, there would be no MMOs, and likely no RPGs, nor a lot of other things in the gaming realm.

Ultimately, by his game, he brought happiness and fun to easily millions of people at this point.

There isn't much better an epitaph you can give someone than "He brought happiness and joy to millions", I don't think.

The world was a better place for him having been here, and is a poorer place for his having gone.

Once again, RIP Mr. Gygax.

For anyone who doesn't know who he is they obviously haven't watched that episode of Futurama that he is in enough.

I think it's pathetic that people who play WoW or EQ don't know who E. Gary Gygax is/was.

Most young people never did pen and paper, and don't know the backstory of D&D.

Never even played DD. Now that I think of it, in RL I dont even know anyone whos played it, or at least ever admitted it

Thats because D&D hit its stride before you were even born, goob! If you were older, this would cause you painful memories!

Village of Hommlet module all the way up to Lolth in Queen of the Demonweb Pits module. The memories. Also remember the Oasis of something module(s). These were back in the day of D&D or AD&D (2 seperate rulesets sorta). Holy god I'm an old nerd.
