i just got a ps2 a couple days ago for the first time and i've never played any ps2 exclusive games except katamari

recommend stuff plz

except god of war and final fantasy X bcz those are the only games i bought

I was about to recommend God of War when I read the title.

Guitar Hero 2, without saying. Endless amounts of entertainment with endless replay value. (until of course you 5star every song, which will take months of practice)

When you're done with X, get XII. It's a lot of fun, and different than the usual run of the mill.

If you have friends that are good gamers, get Fight Night Round 2. I completely destroy my friends at this game, and they're the ones that own it. LOTS of fun! I took out my roommate as a featherweight, he was Ali. That's a fucking MIRACLE if you know the game's mechanics.

I'm leaving in like 2 minutes, else I would offer more suggestions. Those are the first few that come to mind.

For PS1 games, get JUMPING FLASH 1 & 2! Those games are so fucking fun it's stupid. I don't know a single person that didn't enjoy 2 when they played it. They're rare, though. So don't pass up a good deal if you find them.

um, I dunno, I mostly just played all the sports series on my PS2 (madden, nhl, etc)

ff12 was indeed pretty good, i aim to pick up a copy one of these days

metal gear solid games are great

the resident evil games aren't terrible

some of the x-men games (the storyline type, not 1v1 fighting) are good for 2+ players

there was some game involving a church that was pretty good, though i can't think of the name now

i dunno that's about all i remember from when i lived with people that had them. i have a ps3 now but i haven't had time to get into any ps2 games

well FF 10 is ridiculous. there's more talking and anime bullshit than fighting so far. and i hate that damn ball game. and i have to play w/ the sound off because the voice acting makes me claw my ears and there's no option to turn it off

looking at FF 12 and i have to say it looks pretty serious/good. i like how it's in ivalice like ff:tactics and how they brought back espers

yeah i played the first hour or so of FF10 at a friend's house when it came out

it's a good game, though by now the controls are going to be confusing and clunky

i don't care about that. i consider controls like that to have weight behind them, opposed to today's ADD-inspired games. i mean has anyone compared the playing speed of the new smash bros. to the smash bros. on 64? it's probably 5x faster and tweakerish. i don't like that

i mean i still play Tenchu: Stealth Assassins for PS1 and the learning curve for those controls is like a glacier climb... i think any kid today would immediately quit after 5 minutes because he can't just pick it up and do good. but once you learn how to maneuver it, you'd never want the controls any other way, yunno?

yeah, but brawl is, i would estimate, about 15% SLOWER than melee

good, if you don't mind the clunky controls then by all means play it, it's a good story

and ps: when i saw brawl i had to ask someone if it was the new smash bros. on the next gen system because the graphics looked like gamecube. kinda disappointing aesthetically, albeit a great game i'm sure

track down Final Fantasy Tactics, and Tactics Ogre

both are awesome

ya i have tactics already, i was the one asking you if you did the deep dungeon and caught all the badass weapons from the lvl 95+ ninjas in Horror. i've done every single thing that game has to offer. including getting cloud and his weapon and all his limit breaks. i gotta get tactics ogre tho. i know it came out first and it's by the same dude before square gobbled him up. i hear it's a lot bigger scope in the battles and lots more units etc. i really want it

anyway i just picked up FF XII, katamari damacy, and god of war I & II

katamari i already played before and if you guys haven't played it you should. so brilliant

FF XII i'm really enjoying, too. feels like the first real final fantasy since VI or VII. love how they brought back the free HP/MP at the save crystals.... and it's overall really good so far. love the FF XI/MMO style battle system, too

Tactics Ogre makes FF tactics look like amateurish shit (battle wise, not story)

10+ units per side, way more varied races to use, more monsters, etc

you also get cool shit where if you're up high, you get extended range on your bows/crossbows, etc

i still think tactics had some of the hardest fights i've ever played in a video game. i had no idea velius or the 1v1 with wygraf or whatever was coming and was completely unprepared for him and since it makes you save literally in between the cut scenes before you fight him, i was fucked for 3 days til i tried every goddamn combination of classes and equipment and finally lanced his ass in the duel

it was crazy

but man after you get orlandus that game is too easy. i purposefully don't use him, or at least Excalibur, because it makes the fights so unbalanced from then on

anyways ya, i'll be getting tactics ogre as soon as i can find a copy

tactics ogre makes FFtactics seem easy

when your characters die, they are dead for good

you don't get the ability to raise the dead until your cleric style gets fairly high in level (which kinda makes sense)

there's certain fights where I swear to FSM you can only win by sacrificing certain members of your party (use them as bait, to draw out certain bad guys)

it's also nice to have such big parties because you can then use certain classes that you just really couldn't in FFT

archers are great, as are certain monsters, like dragons etc when paired with a beast master

it's a pretty rare game tho, so good luck finding it

anybody ever played shadow of the colossus? it's hardcore... it's like zelda where you ride around on a horse, but you don't fight anything except these 17 huge colossus things that you climb up and stab etc to bring down.... it's crazy

I've always heard good things about it. I just haven't gotten around to ever playing it yet.

i give it two big thumbs up of colossus-raping goodness. it has surprisingly cool graphics for a ps2 game. it reminds me of gothic 3 or something by how they do the shaders and the seamless world
