I thinking about signing up for Facebook. Does anybody here use it? How is it? Is it a big time waster?

depends on what you want it for man

if you have a lot of real life friends that use it it's a great social tool that saves you a lot of time

i use it on a daily basis. i'm jonathan turner on the oregon 10 network

and i know leah, alex, zanchief, gaazy, and kaiineNT are on it at least. i think more ppl here use myspace, but i don't have one of those anymore. too informal

I'm on there too, but I pretty much never look at it or do anything with it.

my sense is that facebook is less "screamy shiny" version of myspace, kind of the over 25 crowd

i use it to stay up with friends and reconnect with friends i haven't seen in half my life Lol

I use facebook as well (Ashley Wright) - I used to use myspace more frequently, but it's far too spammy, teenagey, and spywarey. it's like eye rape every time I log in.

I like facebook, but like Drem said, it depends on what you want to use it for.

ya it used to be super legit, too. you had to have a verifiable university e-mail account just to register. i'm sorta still miffed they opened it up to everyone, including Fing high schoolers, but they still don't let people fake everything and over-customize. i like it

and it wasn't supposed to be a social thing like myspace. it was a networking tool for students and teachers to organize study groups and events and post coursework etc. outside of actually having to call everyone or be in class or hope everyone got the e-mails etc. sort of like what coursehero.com is now. it just turns out that it's a lot fuckin better than all the other ones, so after time it went global. and yeah, it pissed every student off that high school students and people that didn't go to school were invading it. still does. everyday it's closer and closer to a myspace clone. especially with this ridiculous new layout mark put in

I was never a student, but I'm really glad they did open it because I detest myspace now.

I got a lot of the Facebook history when I worked there last summer. Every single time it expanded, people who were already on it bitched. It started out just for Harvard, and then it expanded to some other of the local schools, and Harvard students bitched. Then after a while it expanded again beyond those schools, and those people bitched. Repeat til we're at where it is today.
