i haven't heard of russian circles, tristeza, explosions in the sky, mr 1986, or faunts. i'll check those out, thx. let's trade on msn sometime

mogwai's new album is pretty strong. russian circles just put out a new one that i have yet to pick up, but their first one is great (check youtube for live performances).

EitS is okay if you like taking naps, personally i am underwhelmed by them-- they never seem to push the music far enough, if that makes any sense. it's too safe, i guess? mr. 1986 pushes the music right off the cliff, jumps after it, and lands on it knees-first. sadly, they just had their final farewell show last month. it sucked to see them hang it up for good, but goddamn what a show!

I'm not a big lover of pure instrumental stuff, but for extended instrumentals I really like the Kath Era Chicago recordings

apparently we have him to thank for all those badass amps Fender has put out over the years-- dale was friends with leo fender back in the day, and said "leo, i keep blowing out these amps. can't you make them more powerful?"

mostly the instrumental bands i'm getting into are from japan, like euphoria, te, toe, mono, and some really crazy vietnamese stuff from my girlfriend

and i appreciate the chicago plug but i'm more looking for music recorded in the last decade so i could actually go see them live if i wanted to. when i decided to accept it, i realised there's a hell of a lot of good rock recorded in the last 4 years. mostly all of it instrumental, which is great for me because i think the singer usually is what makes me hate most rock

im liking these music threads, cant say i like all the bands that i never heard of but at least its something new to me and that is always good

btw instramentals = Santana. Europa, Samba Pa Ti, Soul Sacrifice to name a few I have been a huge fan since his 1st album came out.

Tubular Bells. - Mike Olfield was 18 and played something like 194 instraments on this.

And a sweedish ( i think ) One hit Wonder. Focus.

HAHAHA lol man that is no lie. Honorable mention goes to Gwar too for rendering me deaf for near a solid week, but what a show /nostalgia

Maiden is VERY loud in live also however their sound guy has his shit together. not one note distorted and i swear you could hear a fly fart. awesome sound. hell he even got the audience coming thru clear

and a local band Brainbow, something like 4 guitars, 2 bass, drummer, & keyboardist. I've seen them open a few shows and they always remind me of Sunshine's soundtrack by Underworld & John Murphy. Good guys too, got them a round at one of the first shows I saw them at and they got me back last time.
