Wow, what an arduous task it is to pick baby names. After hours of rifling through about a dozen baby name sites, we're both in agreement on the following names:

If it's a boy, we like Landen (we like this spelling better than Landon), Ethan, and Connor as the three finalists.

If it's a girl, we're down to Alexis, Sophie, or Alizee (yes, like the French pop star).

We're still working on middle names.

when my little guy was born, I picked a name that hadn't been around much lately (alexander)

everyone else did exactly the same thing

I know 17 other kids named alex, alexis, alexa, etc etc all around the exact same age, jeje

go with Connor, so you can call him highlander

you might want to check the top 10 lists for names in case you would like your kid to not have a too common name...

we picked Soren for my son, just liked it, and it fits him

for my daughter we picked Addison and we call her Addy

We are also in the throws of a name choosing, as we have out 3rd coming, sort of decided on a girls name, nothing for the boys so far

Yeah, we're trying to stay from names that are too common, but she really likes the name Alexis. Right now we're having to deal with the Subchorionic Hematoma she has. It's nerve-wracking. The good news is that it only results in a miscarriage 1-3% of the time. It's still scary though. We've been to the ER twice already because she's been bleeding and passing tissue, which turned out to be just blood clots. She just started her 3rd Trimester though, and the further along you get, the chance of a miscarriage diminishes greatly.

i guess i don't really follow baby name trends, so if variations on Alex have become more popular i wouldn't have noticed

but when i was growing up in our city of 23,000 i only ever met one Alex that was even remotely my age (short for Alexandra) and since moving to lincoln in 99 i've only met like two more

I like Sophie for the girl, but IMO if you're going with that route, it'd be better to name her Sophia, and just shorten it to Sophie as a nickname. I always feel bad for people that are named the nickname version of their names. It's hard to sound professional if you have to have "Bobby" on your business card or something.

I'm pretty sure Ashley was in the top 3, if not #1, name in '83. I hated it so much as a kid having to be distinguished as big Ashley or little Ashley or Ashley W or Ashley 1 or just plain Wright because there were just so many of us. drove me nuts.

Funny, that's what we're considering for our kid if it's a girl. Spencer or Preston if it's a boy. My last name is Ames so there aren't too many names that sound good with it.

There was never a year of school without at least 2-3 more Tiffanys in class, common names suck. I like the names Kelsey, Cassidy, Avery, Alijah, Micah and Tristan for girls. For boys I like Kameron, Cian, Anael, Malachi, Wynn, Micah, Avery and Sebastian.

I used to love Madison, Mackenzie, Alexis and Morgan, but now they are way too common.

I was one of about 5 Jessicas in my grade. Jessica was one of the top for 1982. There was also a Jessica E, Jessica H, Jessica L, and Jessica W, in addition to me.

I'm sticking with normal freaking names when we have kids. None of this trendy Maddison, Addison, Kinsey, Linsey, Cayden, Braydon, Shayden, Faggotden bullshit. What's wrong with a normal fucking name? I have a nephew named Austin and he said there are 11 kids in his GRADE with the same name.

Even worse is the parents who name all of their kids with the same fucking letter. I saw this one woman who ran out of "H" ideas, so they named their fucking son HATRICK. As in, the 3-point game. Harley, Heath, Homo and Hatrick. Something like that...

For fuck's sake, your kid is going to fucking hate you if you name them that. It might be cute to meet a 5 year old named "Ranger," but when he's 20, he'll either murder you in your sleep, or die from some gay disease he caught while hooking. All because you thought it would be cute to have a toddler named "Grangely." OMFG.

This is why I'm naming my first born Darth. Regardless of gender, I will have a Darth Galloway in my family. 2nd and 3rd kids can be whatever, but they'll fucking listen to Darth Galloway.

+1 Michael married to Jennifer. My last name is a also a first name, so most people call me by that instead. I could give a shit either way.

I never thought I'd have boys..never thought of names for boys but I do have girls names. I've had them picked out for years and here I am with 2 boys The first boys name came way easier than the 2nd, although it still wasn't easy. I still am hoping to use the girls name :P We have Braysen James and Merrick Conner, both uncommon and why we came up with them! I was one of a LOT of Heather's growing up. I went by a nickname most of my life because it was easier on teachers and coaches.

I have this rule though, I won't do a name in the top list. I also wanted some Irish roots.

I really like the name Sophia and Sophie for short but its up to you. I think its fairly unique and really pretty the way it sounds and looks when written. I like names like Ruby, Lily, Candace, Cassandra, Lucy, Agnes, Olivia, and Hannah. Growing up as a Jennifer or Jenny I always wished I had a unique name. But then again now that I'm grown up I really feel like my name suits me.

my name is pretty unique but i did have another leah in my class in high school, which is kind of odd given what a small school it was. she's a cool chick though so it was OK.

people pop kids out like crazy around here at my office; some recent names are mena elle, maxwell brent, and sophia luanne. cute!

my girl name would be audrey helen (my grammas' names) and a boy name i'm kind of undecided about, although i like the name lukas.

im just scared you reproduced. Why dont you name the kid George W if its a boy and Sarah if its a girl.

My sons name is Solomon. I have met ONE other Solomon in my entire life. If I have another boy some day he will be Samson. For a girls name I like Roxanne.
