Onions

Lately I've been loving onions, especially sauteed in a little butter, but I don't really know what to do with them other than throw them on a burger or something. Mmm...

So, anyone have any recipes/ideas that have good uses for onions?

there are way too many individual recipes to list so i'll let you figure the recipes out with the help of the internet but:

pickled as well as caramelized red onions
potato salad with white onions
yellow onions cooked up w/ seafood
a metric ton of different salads using fresh onion
you can learn how to core it and batter em with tempura and make onion rings
you can use damn near any variety of onion from shallot to boiler to baby to green as flavor for almost every dinner entree you've probably ever had in your life. onions are a pretty huge staple in cooking
you can also make great bread with onions
and similarly you can just bake onions alone and they taste great
and you can chop em up and put them in your omelettes and scrambles and skillets as well

and green onion in particular is a great garnish as well as a good candidate for adding flavor to soups

the onion is basically an endless goldmine of options

I'll fuck an onion up. I can just eat them raw like an apple with some salt and pepper. Yum.

I'm still a huge believer that the greatest onion dish of all time is

Baked French Onion soup

something else you can have on the side, is the Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich

what makes it ultimate, is that you have some onion relish on the sandwich as well ;)

(basically you sautee some onions in butter, then add some apple cider vinegar to it, and reduce it down to mush. spread it on the inside of the sandwich before you add the cheese. you can also add some pear slices, but i prefer it without)

i love to chop up onions and garlic and sautee them in olive oil, salt and pepper, THEN i dice up potatoes in small cubes and throw them in and cook until crispy, then douse them in Tobasco/ketchup/mustard whatever you like...

I'll eat them breaded and deep fried and covered in ketchup. that's about it.

I used to be the same way

once you have some that are done properly, you'll like em

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of limp, slimy onions that most folks do

they have to be prepared properly(by properly, I mean the way I like em )

home fries sound AMAZING. there's this diner at a truck stop halfway between lincoln and where josh's mom lives and we stop there on christmas eve on our way to her house. anyway, this year i discovered that they make the best home fries i've ever had. NOM NOM NOM.
