I felt like smashing the thing the first few hours I played it but once you figure out that you have to take EVERY encounter seriously and try to split up mobs, run away a lot and use tactics, it becomes easier. It's definitely a rush when you get through a part that has handed you your hat for the last 2 hours. Sort of like EQ in that way...

Yeah I have Demon Souls. I bought it like three days before Dragon Age came out, played it those three days, failed terribly, started playing Dragon Age and haven't touched Demon Souls since.

I'm terrified of it. Every time I open my games drawer in my TV stand I wince in fear.

On a noobier note, I beat Ghostbusters the Video Game in 7 hours today!

I've started over now 4 times and finally have a class I am comfortable with. The first time through it took me about 8hrs to get through the 1st boss. This time through it took me about an hour and I did it on Soul Level 1. I'm playing a Royal mage and have been putting my points in to combat stats and Intelligence to round out a battle mage.

This game is fucking awesome.

Best exclusive game on the PS3, imo.

For sure. I'm still addicted. The consequences for dying are enough to make the entire game very intense. I'm Soul Level 37 now and finally did a round of multiplayer. I summoned someone in to my game to help me fight a boss. Really simple but very cool multiplayer experience. Once the boss was dead the guy vanished but his world shifts towards a positive alignment and opens alternate paths, loot tables etc. If he was to invade my game and kill me, his world goes evil and different options are available.

Finally beat this game last night. Highly recommended!

I bought it a while ago, been having fun with it. Should play it more often. I think I'm soul level 40 or something.

Took me a while to really get used to the style of play, to learn that it's more about setting up a counter attack than anything else, at least for my character.

I'd also recommend it, if you have patience and don't need your hand held through games. Actually, fuck it, even if you don't have patience and you want your hand held, get this game, it will make you feel like a man.

Dark Souls is more of the same awesome!

It is awesome. It's also stupidly hard and frustrating lol.

I'm playing demon's souls for this first time now. It's pretty awesome. Very hard at first, but it's starting to get more manageable. Very fun, even if it's sometimes frustrating.

It's like Oblivion but doesn't have a moronic leveling system, and has less quests.

It's punishing just how a game like this should be. Just the right amount of risk/reward and punishment for careless actions.

Very true. It's frustrating at times, but mostly because you make bad decisions. It punishes you for making mistakes, but you rarely die because the game is buggy or some such. The controls are pretty tight.

I also love that there are no save states. Everything is auto save so if you make a boneheaded decision, you’re stuck with it. More games should be made like that. Imagine Fallout 3 without save stats? That shit would be so much more intense.

Case in point: I fell down a hole in one of the dungeons and was cursed. I did this TWICE in fact. It's a huge pain in the ass to get "uncursed". I could get really pissed at the game and quit but instead I think it teaches me to look VERY carefully before I step. The hole is there and can be seen but only if you are looking for it.

Still playing. Level 46 now and just reached Anor Lando. AMAZING game.

Got my plat in Demon's Souls. Thinking of jumping to Dark Souls soon. The lure of Skyrim is still out there though.

I know Skyrim is gonna be great but I can wait til closer to xmas time for that. Right now, it's all about Dark Souls. Shit's so awesome.

100+hrs in and shit's still awesome.

I'll have to nab this when I finish Skyrim.

Beat the game and immediately started over as a different build. Probably 200hrs in to it now. Addicting. as. fuck.
