Flink inherited a considerable amount of money when his father died. He either inherited enough to never have to work again or enough to invest and make a decent living for himself from the dividends. Either way, he doesn't work and never has.

Wrong Toss, I didn't inherit anything besides comic books, coins, and fishing gear. I was a beneficiary on his life insurance policy, however. Certainly not enough money to not need to work.
