So this basically means that Comcast can do whatever it wants in terms of filtering content, slowing/blocking torrent traffic, etc., right? And the solution that got knocked down was getting the government involved in regulating internet content, err, I mean, "keeping the playing field level" for the internet?

I don't like either option.

Though the cards are stacked against any company competing with Comcast, if Comcast pulls shit like that, it only opens the doors for a new provider to start eating away at their customer base.

though i have a pretty strong dislike for the FCC, i'd rather have them at the wheel of the Net Neutrality truck than any single private company by a long shot

actually i might be jumping off the cable broadband truck soon-- in a couple of months i'll be re-upping with Sprint, and they're currently giving away a 4G-capable usb modem with any new 2yr contract. if possible i'm going to use that for internet and get rid of my cable, though i'm not yet sure how all the numbers are going to shake out

at home i use verizon's usb modem broadband. so instead of like, one thing being slow, everything's slow

i don't know what 4g compared to 3g means in terms of usb modem speed but i am thoroughly disappointed with verizon's wi-fi and would not recommend it to anyone. comcast-filtered-anything is probably still faster than this crap

however, you can take your usb modem with you wherever you go and connect to the net in any place that a phone can, so it has its benefits if/when you take your computer around
