floyd is/was my dad's all-time favorite band, and he'd never seen them live - so when i found out Roger Waters was playing the qwest in omaha tonight i found tickets online and convinced my dad to drive up on faith alone. it was awesome, he didn't figure out who we were there to see until we got all the way inside and saw a merch booth and KABOOM his face just beamed

obv it's not quite the same without gilmour, but waters performed The Wall in its entirety with a quite competent backing band and a mind-blowing stage presentation - throughout the first half of the show, stage hands added "bricks" one by one in front of the band until the wall was complete

this photo was taken near the end of the first set and you can see the wall almost finished (the "windows" at the base were filled in last so you could still see the band playing)

it frickin owned so hard :balloons:

I looked into going here. 2 tickets in semi-close seats totaled > $500. Next level of seats totaled 250, and were labeled "limited view"....

I would LOVE to go, but not at those prices. Especially not given where it's being held, the Shark Tank, which has truly AWFUL acoustics for concerts. (I know, I've been to 2 concerts there, and the sound was awful both times. Plenty loud, but completely muddled, with no range or expression at all)

Truth be told, though, I would rather have gone last tour, when instead of The Wall, he did Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety...

yeah wow, that's a lot! our seats were (obviously) pretty far in the back but it was < $200 for both on the day of the show. i could've even had a better deal but i made the unfortunate choice to take a shit when i got home instead of buying tickets first

that sucks about the acoustics of your concert hall - the Qwest was designed pretty well (aside from the concourse having too many choke points for foot traffic), everything sounded fantastic even from way up in the corner.

i really do recommend seeing the show though, waters has really amped up the anti-war message of the original, and the stage/light show is nothing short of entrancing

edit: for those of you who know me on facebook i put up a ~20 photo album of the show
