I graduated summa cum laude yesterday with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I'm happy about it, and just wanted to share :)

Please proceed to your regularly scheduled flame wars.

Thanks guys :)

I just have to pass our board certification sometime in January (The NCLEX) and then I'm an official registered nurse. Then I have to find a job =/ Competition is fierce for new grads right now.

for what it's worth, RN's can pretty much choose their own jobs around here

RN also make about 88k here (once you reach top of wage scale anyway)

An RN with any amount of experience under their belt can pretty much pick their job around here, too. The problem is that with the recession recently, nurses who had left to raise kids, or were working part time, have come back full time to compensate for husbands being laid off, etc. Even if they've been out of the field for a few years, they are almost always preferable to a new grad. I just need to get that first job. I'll be sitting pretty after that.

At least RN is a utterly portable job spec. You can go ANYWHERE and they'll still likely need nurses. Not like a techie job, where you need to be near a tech-centeric location to find a job.

Hell, move to Hawaii and get a RN job there. ;)
