So Trion's got a free trial going on for Rift (as per the norm) and they added in whats called the Ascend a Friend. It's the same premise of the refer a friend from WoW. Basically if you try the trial and end up buying the game etc (after using my link to sign up etc) then you get a special title in game. Think it's called "The Chosen". I get a dog as a pet and a hat with a big ass feather on it. Great for my inner RP?!

they're good people, although leadership is looking at moving us all into Carpe Vinum since they are always ~5 raiders short for GSB and we can usually only put together 12 raid-ready toons on a good night

I'm not uber, we've only finally cleared Greenscale Blight on Friday(that fucking dragon is hardcore), and still 2 bosses to go in River of Souls. There's 2 guilds ahead of us, Enigma is already on 5th boss in Hammerknell, and we're only planning to go there for the first time in few weeks.

We got Herald in RoS down too tonight, so just Alsbeth left. DH and GP we cleared long time ago. We have raids almost daily but they are signup based, so you can raid only when you have time, they are not mandatory.

I wish I could get my internet to stay connected so I could come back and play with you brinstar and ganzo. Maybe ill figure it out soon, actually I may work on that shit sunday and see if I can figure it out

Come back Gaazy, i'm sure you'll get your spot back. We've been on the roll lately, smashed through all the remaining bosses of Greenscale Blight and River of Souls, and went into Hammerknell last week. We got Murdanix to 30% and decided we need to farm other raids more to gear up better, as our DPS isn't high enough yet. But i think we should be able to down him in 2 weeks.

If anyone wants to come play and see the endgame encounters, leveling and gearing is very fast and easy, and I always will have a spot in our guild. If raiding isn't your thing, there's lots of non raiders to do stuff with in guild as well; and it's 18+ so you don't have to worry about what you say in guild chat.

Do Mages still suck? The huge nerfsmackdown really irked me, as well as the bugs at 50 when I quit.

The big reason I left was that Trion's class design team seemed to be idiots and there was no paper -> scissors -> rock and they seemed to be clueless about how to make the classes fun. Most of the souls were cheesy without much depth or fun. The world also really didn't do much for me after I explored it end to end. The graphics were nice, but it was missing depth and character and was really generic.

Mages have been balanced around much better. After you left they received a huge buff and became FOTM for a while, than got toned down and are very good now. They are best support, best raid heals, best CC and tied for best AE DPS with Rogues. They are behind Rogue and Warrior for single target DPS. They also do very good in PVP, tied for the best class.

The game is much more developed now than the time you left. There are solo dungeons, invasions actually important for you to attend, there is an AA advancement similar to EQ, so there is a point to leveling past 50, even though level cap remained. There are new zones coming out in next few patches. There is a master level dungeon (basically 5 man raids, one so far but more coming), 3 10 man raids, 3 20 man raids, crafting is useful again, Daily Raid Rifts. There's a dungeon finder like in WoW so you can always get a PuG, but for me there are always people within a guild to do stuff with. Honestly I do not have time to do even 30% of endgame content that is available. PVP is also really fun with 5 Warfronts, goes all the way to Rank 8 now(I'm only R4).

Come back and try it out, you already got a 50 that's geared for Greenscale/River of Souls and for 10 mans, and we got all of T1 content on farm. We took down Murdantix, the first boss of Hammerknell(T2 raid) on Tuesday for the first time, and in server progression we are number two guild behind Enigma. Inkcomming's elitist crew split from the guild three months ago, because we weren't progressing fast enough for them, and started their own guild, which imploded a month later and they server transferred. We took few weeks to rebuild after they left, started over and been progressing steadily ever since.

I tried out a trial and played for about 6 hours... can't help but feel that it's basically the poor man's WoW. Almost identical mechanics in many ways but the world is much less immersive/flavorful.

So this game is free now so I'm playing a bit.

Making an assassin / ranger. All melee using my pet to flank enemies. Seems fun. A lot of options for character ideas. I'm sure everythings been streamlines into uber builds by now though.

I still play occasionally, it is a fun game. I did the uber raiding back in the original before they did the level upgrade from 50 to 60 and I thought it was way better than WoW in terms of difficulty. Never raided 60's content though.

I'm playing both this and SWTOR now that both are free to play. SWTOR had a nice Double EXP weekend so I got my Sith Warrior up to 41. The F2P is decent, but not as good as Rift.

I'm leveling my mage now via Harbinger/Chloro spec. It really does not feel like a mage at all. I'm level 51 Defiant on Faeblight.
