Kazaa

Is there a way to block downloanding a file from a certain user? I am trying to download something. There are SEVERAL people with the file I am after, but the only connection I can get is with some asshole on dial up (obviously) and I can only 0.81 kbps. I don't have 500 hours to wait. If I could some how block this moron, I should be able to download from someone with enough brains to join the rest of the 21st century with a cable/DSL connection.

I've been through all the options I can't find anything.

For the love of God don't use Kazaa. Too many horror stories lol.

I use WinMX but the problem there ends up being every goddamn mp3 has a 100+ line of people apparently. (Probably a bogey of theirs)

Who knew that there were 109 people wanting to download a copy of Doc Watsons "Sugar Baby"?

Well, what I am trying to get it something that's well over a gig in size. I have tried to find it on Soulseek, but with no luck. I'll try something else though. I just find Kazaa to be the most user friendly app out there (that I've seen).

That isn't the way the file ques work. Thats the number of people wanting to download from the person with the lowest number of people wanting to download from him.

Try EMule, I can usually find what I am looking for and get it within a few days.

haw...Emule sounds like a site I wouldn't want to try to get something quickly from. Kind of selling bottled water from the company Outhouse Springs.

You have Fast Track Accelerator (also called Speed Up)? I will find more users to download with and split the download between them.

Are there any programs out there that work like Napster did back before they got neutered? Things were so much easier then. I believe you could block certain users with it too.

Pisses me off that I had dial up at the time.. :x

DSL upload rates although better than dial-up are not fantastic considering the DSL guy has to upload the stuff to the downloader. DSL upload speeds are not as fast as their download speeds. Some people even limit their upload bandwidth.

Not sure how cable compares to this since I never have, nor ever plan to use it. The whole party line with my neighbors suckin bandwidth concept turned me off of that.

DSL upload rates usually start at 25 up or thereabouts and go up to 200 when you are located closely to the CO.

Most cable modems are limited either at 36 or 52.
