I may have asked this before

I am old, sue me. I cannot remember if I asked this once before or not, if it was Toucher's boards, old NT or if I dreamt asking.
Anyways, on Super Nintendo, or Playstation 1 there was a turn based game where aliens tried to take over the earth. You had to build your armies up to defend ground and air assults, the game ends when the aliens take over too many areas, or you kill off enough of them to blow up the mother ship. The graphics sucked and so did the game, for the most part. It was fun developing weapons and strategies to kill them and was great to occupy days and days of your time, can anyone remember this game ?

i remember having a demo of terror from the deep on a floppy disk that came in an ancient pc gamer. but the floppy was corrupt and i never got into x-com
despite the 320x200 resolution, it's a pretty bad ass game so far

Hard to explain, but I am sure you have played it. It is horrible, yet it is so addictive. I could have easily skipped work today and instead of getting my house ready to sell or did work on the new house, played that game until I pass out tonight. All aliens must die !

hehe, I started at 5:30 PM. By 10:30 I had my own UFOs, 7 bases worldwide with Plasma Defenses, everyone in flying armor with plasma rifles and a budget of 10million monthly

I am X-com pro !!!
The trick is to have 100 scientists, 100 engineers and 14 soldiers at all times. Soon as you learn laser pistols, produce them non-stop and sell them. They net $12,000 profit each, you can keep people unhappy as long as you do not totally lose all funding. Once you have everyone geared, you start rocking every alien ship as you mass build bases. I run 2 bases strictly radar bases with engineers puming out laser pistols. Then as you learn alien craft, you build a base of hangers and start producing ships, next thing you know, you are owning all aliens. Tonight I should have beginner beat (had to refresh my mind how to play) and jump into a pro game.

lol, i bow b4 ur might~
i've got some heavy plasma rifles now, and didn't realize till last night that half my soldiers bravery was lvl 10.
i'll definitely head towards ufo research. i havn't gotten a single thing of that elerium 115, do i need to research some ufo part before i recognize it? i had it in my first game, but started a new one when i got the hang of how to play.

I do not know if you need to research it, but the more you blow the shit out of the alien craft, the less you will get. You will get more from "landed" ships, than crashed landed ships. I think I was up to about 400 units of it, before I started producing my alien craft. Once you figure out the tricks of the game, its way too simple. Then you quit playing for 4 years, then you post a message on the NT asking if anyone knows what game you are referring too
More when I get back from this job.
