I'm in the beta, and this is probably breaking NDA. It sucks.
I am one of the minority that actually likes SWG (I get bored after a month or two, but there are a lot of good things in the game). I just can't get into JTLS.

But the question is, did you like that type of game before this?
I absolutely LOVE those games.
Freespace series, etc.
I might even try this game again if I read enough good about it >_<

Hmmm, the only game I have ever owned that is comparable to JTLS is X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. I loved that game. I felt like JTLS is basically just an bad clone (maybe worse) of that X-Wing vs Tie Fighter game but with a lot of extra mmorpg crap added onto it.
Imagine playing counterstrike and before you could just start killing people you need to build experience gathering resources. Then you have to hunt for certain resources to make your equipment. Then you have to grind experience to be qualified to make the guns and armor. Then you have to repair the gun and armor after every fight. Oh, you also need to start off using a pocket knife and work your way up to an Ak-47. It kinda takes away from the whole point to this type of game: blowing stuff up.
A lot of people playing it can't get enough of it. To each his own.

I'll likely be one of those people eating it up like a happy puppy

Tell me how it is when that happens, I've been looking forward to that for so long...but too bad it's so close to WoW/EQ2

Three weeks from JTL to WOW/EQ2
Plenty of time to test drive, and I'm not going to let any game get more than 20 hours a week out of me.

I've ben playing Star Wars Clone Wars - it's pretty good. Not quite as challenging as other games, but it's def worth checking out - less you've already played it.

the most badass star wars games of recent times have been rogue squadron.
of the days of yore, the x-wing etc. games were pwn and the ones for regular and super nintendo
that star wars RTS game that was basically a star wars skin for age of empires was horrible

I'd love an MMO version of Freespace. E&B was fucking EQ in space, instead of a Privateer type game, which would've been brilliant.

Privateer is one of my favorite non-online games of all time

I'd mostly just like a MMORPG of pac-man
I'd totally be one of those random dots and roleplay like a champ

Are there any really good NEW starwars games that involve piloting a ship and blowing the dogshit out of lots of stuff?
Last good one I played was Tie Fighter which is like 300 years old.

TIE Fighter is still the king

Freespace and Freespace 2 both kick major ass.
But it's too easy, I have to make my own missions for them to be difficult.
Basically have to zerg me for it to get difficult.
2-3 wings of fighters is so weak.
