Just had a thought... (NT Shoutcast station)

What about a shoutcast radio show? Everyone could tune-in to NT radio... listen to music at work, listen to the 'talk show' at night... call in...
damnit... this sounds like a lot of fun... it's fairly easy to do... we already have a huge audience...

I'd contribute stuff to play.
Can't offer any streaming options from my home or office bandwidth though as I am firewalled at work and my laptop rarely gets plugged in at home anymore.

Alrighty...
My idea is this...
I'm thinking of setting up my own hosting. If I run my own server, from my own home, I get unlimited storage space... and many more options on what I do with the whole thing. I have the hardware, I just need to consider bandwidth. I'm pretty sure that I could do it though.
After that is complete...
The NT radio network could be setup to have multiple channels even... I could have a streaming talk show hour every week where anyone could 'call-in' via a java client for RL discussions, game infos, MMO ranting... the whole she-bang. Hell, if I had the right support... we could have a 'this week, in everquest' column... imagine hearing Zeek talk about the latest Remedy or Sanctuary's debacle with LoS, back in the day.
For the rest of the day, we'd play music sets. This is crazy-crazy easy to do... again, we could do multiple channels so all music genres are covered... but even if we only go with 1 channel, everyone's pick could be represented. "It's Tossica's House Hour, every weekday from 1-2pm CST!" or "It's Taxx's Angry Hate Music Medly! Tune in, Saturdays at 7pm!"
This whole thing is VERY pre-Alpha right now... I had the idea because I was reading about how the biggest problem that most web-radio stations face is securing listeners. We already have a great community, and it's going to keep getting bigger as the new MMO's arrive. This could be a great alternative... another way to keep in touch.
But... keep in mind the simple fact that we are in VERY early planning for MANY things and this will take a pretty good amount of work before it could work.
Anyway... yeah... fun times ahead.
