Half Life 2 released and on shelves.....but not released!?

Well it's all over the net. HL2 was purchased by thousands today from places like Best Buy and Wal-Mart, even EBGames and Gamestop. Yet shortly after some people installed and ran the game, Valve was forced by Vivendi to LOCK the game once more through Steam not allowing people to play until Tuesday as for breach of contract.

isn't there single player game? or is HL full multiplayer?
hehe i don't kno cause i only saw lan games of HL and unreal.... unreal had a single player game i kno that hehe
would be funny if that happened with GWs hehe

It's single-player mostly but you cannot play the game until you connect through the internet the first time...it's really fucking stupid.

but at least when you went to the store and it was on the shelf.. it had some crime scene tape around it saying DO NOT SELL TILL (this date)
you should have seen my amazon package when the 5th harry book was sent to me
DO NOT DELIVER TILL JUN WHATEVER THE DATE WAS! and it was all over the damn thing

So what happens if someone doesn't have Internet access? It seems idiotic to require access to play a single player game.

They can't play. It's listed in the minimum requirements that you need internet access. You can do it like ANYWHERE that you have steam installed...you don't need the game installed. It authentics it from your steam account.
