Lyion, since you are playing both games after the release which do you think is better? I probably will buy one after the new year and is wondering which game you prefer.

each is such a personal preference type game, that's kind of a hard question to answer

Your best bet is to play em both for a bit, and see for yourself (ie find some friends that have it and bug them to demo it for you =P )

What type of game is WOW? I've read nothing on it.... Could be interested.

I'm loving EQ2! The grind is starting to come back which i don't like. 7-8 hours of constant pulls per level....i can only imagine 30+.

I'm just having fun questing, and helping all my new buddies each night with there Class armour.

The grind on the other hand....
But i'm sure WOW has "the grind" also.

Tikker summed up my feelings.

Here's a bit more of my opinion, and its just opinion.

WOW is the better short term game. Its much easier to get into, and is very user friendly

EQ2 has better long term playability, but its tougher to level and has a much steeper learning curve. There is zero spoonfeeding.

WOW is a lot easier to solo. Levelling is trivial. It's almost an exp cost to group early. Levelling in EQ2 is slow, almost tedious.

Combat in EQ2 is more fun, and in depth. EQ2 has the better lore and stories, although WOW also has excellent lore.

Grouping in EQ2 is a lot more fun than WOW. Death in EQ2 has a penalty. In WOW death is trivial, with no real penalty.

Quests in WOW own EQ2. The quests are well done and excellently written. NPC dialogue in WOW is great. The character emotes are great.

Character customization is much better in EQ2. NPCs, and AI in EQ2 own WOW. You look distinct and even after a few weeks, characters look very, very different. WOW does not have much individualization.

Raids are setup better in WOW right now.

Crafting in EQ2 is much better than WOW.

WOW looks pretty but EQ2s graphics are simply amazing on a good PC.

You can't go wrong with either game, and they offer a lot different things, and yet both come down to who you know online.

If you are looking for a part time game, WOW is a much better choice.

If you are looking at a grouping game similar to EQ, but nextgen then EQ2 is a better choice

Again, these are just strengths and weaknesses of each game as I play them. I'm enjoying both and there really is no wrong choice.

I play both WoW and EQ2 and I would agree with most of Lyion's comparisons above. I am of the opinion that quests in WoW and EQ2 are pretty similar and if I had to give the edge to either game, I would be giving it to EQ2 at the moment. I will be playing each game for very different reasons. EQ2 has the edge for me at the moment but I'm not ruling WoW out.

Being many of the Blizzard Dev team are Ex LoS, I think its safe to say many in their guild are playing WOW.

I ended up picking up Wow as well. :) I agree with all of Lyions points except for the crafting. EQ2's crafting seems very tedious to me. It kinda goes along with the spoon feeding comparision.

After getting to Level 16 EQ2 started to become way overcomplicated for the amount of time I wanted to invest. So I'm on WoW now for the time being. I did have to re-roll on a new server because of the dreaded 45 minute queue to login!! Die blizzard die die die!

Actually LoS is in variety of places, not all togeather.

Some of us decided its time to balance game and life... Some Hardcore, Some prefer Alliance, Some prefer PvP, some prefer Horde. Some EST, Some PST

Usually you will find more than a couple in each guild however.
