Email Spoofing?

I recently lost my old ISP account that I've had for about 4 years. (They finally figured out I haven't been a customer for a year.) Problem is, everyone I know has that e-mail address. I was thinking there was a way to keep it by spoofing. I did some reading up on it but I wasn't able to make it click.

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird, (cuz Moziilla rules).

The address I'd like to get back is acronk@charter.net

Possibilities?

Thanks

http://www.returnpath.com/

They forward email from your old account to your new and you can use it to notify people of the new address thru it.

What I don't know is if they sell your email addy. I have used them in the past without problems but it's been over a year since I did and the ad companies have gotten more desperate since then.
