Did Blizzard set off a script before it was ready, too, when they caught them?

From checking out FoH's boards, it seems like this was more of a Blizzard clusterfuck than deserved suspensions: See thread here

I'd be curious what y'all think too.

Third game they've cheated in. A leopard cannot change its spots.

I was the first 50 Ranger on Andred fighting them, and they were pretty obviously hacking.

What purpose does cheating on a GAME fulfill?

These people need to grow up.

Maybe so, but it kind of seems like that's ALL they're being suspended for in this case...

I seriously doubt Blizz would haphazardly ban them just because they've been know to cheat in other games.

Watch them closer? Sure. Ban them, no.

Anyone who knows these dorks realizes its not a matter of if they cheat, just when they get caught.

I find it funny that Blizzard is essentially going through everything EQ went through, plus the Korean hacker bastards making it even moreso screwed up.

I find it funny that conquest got pwned AGAIN.... but my stance on exploits has always been that you should be able to do them as long as you like without repercussion.

The devs have or should have quality assurance people and testers. If they don't catch an exploit that is their own fucking fault not the paying customer, and the responsibility to fix it should lie on them.

The reason these guys got banned was retarded, but given their past I don't feel very bad.

Yeah, it sounds like it was a stupid suspension and had more to do with their rep than anything else. I don't have the patience for the WoW boards and the FoH boards seem to have been down the last couple of hours so I haven't been able to follow if any of the senior GMs undid it. I also haven't heard anything here to suggest that they actually did anything wrong (other than they have a rep for exploiting).

I'm on the fence about this one. From what Conquest is saying, the first night, they used a screwy combo of frost trap and hunter FD to split the named from its linked guards to fight it solo, and there was a LOS issue involved causing issues hitting back. That night they were told to not pull that way, and don't use LOS issues with boss mobs.

Fast forward to 2nd night. This time, they use a combination of a Rogue with Warlock Summon to pull the boss AND his 2 guards, just without clearing a bunch of trash mobs in the way, and they fought all 3 of them together, in a huge wide-open room with no LOS issues. The only way that fight was different was that the boss wasn't in his spawn room, and a bunch of trash was still up. When the boss was at 5%, he got despawned and a bunch of Conquest got suspended.

Now, I can see one of a few things here: 1) GMs meant the first warning as a genaral warning of "Only fight bosses in the rooms they spawn at, and only after clearing all the trash mobs in the area", and didn't care about the method, and Conquest took it as "Don't use hunter pulling, and don't block attacks with LOS", and didn't repeat the specific cases, but still didn't do it "As Intended" *OR* 2) Conquest is lying its ass off, in which case they'd have to be spectactularly stupid, as you'd have to KNOW 1 night after you got warned for doing screwy things, that you'd be watched to see if you did the same damn things, *OR* 3) GMs had their heads up their asses, saw a Boss away from where it spawned, saw other mobs up, and let loose the ban stick without doing any investigation into what was really going on.

Personally, I lean towards it being a combination of 1 and 3. All of this is especially disturbing to me, as you'd have to know how we did some of our pulls back in LOS, back when Tig was leader. VP, you never cleared more than 2-3 mobs worth of trash, and that only if it saw invis, dragons were pulled through fully spawned dungeons. NTOV, I lost count of how many times we pulled Vulak and killed him with most of the other dragons still up. All it took was knowing how the code for the summon-to-assist worked, and you could get all of the dragons coming to assist Vulak running to a spot that no one was at, and get Vulak solo to the raid, while the other dragons all went home when there was nothing to kill at the spot they'd been summoned to. So, I dunno. I can see Blizzard's point, but can also see Conquest's, in that they didn't do what they'd been specifically told not to, they just didn't do it "as intended".

you would think Blizz would like them in a way cause they are showing how there are probs with the encounters and how they can change them.

But LOS was a big thing in EQ. Dozekar, liendar the keeper (whatever thedragon was at the outzone) multiple other mobs. I don't think anyone was told to stop it or was banned, they just changed incounters. NTOV dragons were rooted for the most part, which actually made them easier imo. changed Vulak's encounter to a retarded ring, that at that point it was easier to get into Vex Thall and get better items than mess with vulak rings.

i remember people pulling Tmax to zone in KD also to do easy CR. NOt cheating imo... god damn annoying to lower levels zoning in and gettin hit 10 times for 370 hehe (back when him hittin you sucked and you were dead almost automatically)

my guess is their rep proceeded them

After reading about this current incident, I went back and reread the multiple page long post about their prior incident in EQ.

These guys have done some serious thinking about the game and how it works. Brad McQuaid and their guild leader went round and round about Aggro, pathing, summoning, and just about every detail of the 4th Warder fight. And Conquest doesn't come off as quite the "cheaters and exploiters" that there reputation would have you believe.

Was splitting Vindi and his guards good pulling or an exploit? I tend to think it was just a sign of a good monk.

Theres a fairly thoughtful post on Conquest in Molten Core on the MonklyBusiness forums.

You must have missed the part where they got ventani stuck in geometry while the main tank used charges of soulfire to build heal agro

Does anyone know if Blizzard undid or apologized for the suspensions on this one?
