I'm building two PCs with the same exact hardware, using pretested mobo/cpu/ram bundles (the mobo is an Asus A8V). The issue is, the PC powers up when the power supply master switch is turned on (not the front panel power switch), which obviously isn't supposed to happen. I've tried both mobos and the problem persists with both. I'm assuming the issue is a silly error on my part, but would anyone know where to look first?

Is your motherboard wired correctly to the front power switch? Are your DIP switches set up properly?

Actually, I unconnected the jumpers to the case (power/LEDs/speaker). With just the power supply connected to the mobo, the mobo still powers up?

Plug the "power" jumper back in, maybe? Or is that only an LED cable?

The jumper that should go from the power button to the MB might be defaulted on or some stupid shit...

Try installing it correctly.

I swapped out a 300w power supply from an old Supermicro case and it worked perfectly, so I know where the source of my trouble is at least. Thanks for all the replies.

I believe if you do not have your POWER jumper connected to the propper prongs, or not connected at all then the mother board will default to power on from switch. Make sure you have the connector in the right place and give it another go.

"ERROR: Replace user, try again."

I had tried it with the power jumpers connected and without (I should have clarified this in my original post). Once I popped in a different power supply everything was peachy.

Why does it matter? I guess I don't understand the problem.
