e?

I'm seriously BURNT on MMO's like EQ, WoW etc these days. I just can't get into them and don't have much time. I still love FPS's though to play for an hour or so here and there.

Any recommendations? I'm ordering FarCry tomorrow... Haven't played that yet.... I really prefer online person on person FPS games like Unreal Tournament, CS and Tribes...

I would also like to know how planetside ended up turning out... Any thoughts? How does "leveling" work in that game and what are the benefits?

Planetside is fun. There isnt levelling, just battle ranks.

Farcry is a blast, I've played through it twice.

BF 1942 was a lot of fun, and a lot of people like BF Vietnam, although I havent tried that.

If you have the rig, give Half Life 2 a try. If you have an Xbox, Halo 2 is a blast.

If you want to buy PS, let me know. I have a spare key for PS and Core Combat.

Just as an aside, SWG Jump to Lightspeed is a lot of fun. Its not traditional MMO like but is space combat with goals and yet you can play it an hour at a time, which is what I'm doing.

Planetside is awesome, but you really need to have a solid group of people in your platoon to really have much of an impact (imo)

Farcry was pretty good, until you reach that last level and it gets stupid, heh

Call of Duty is still probably my fav all time WW2 FPS, with the original unreal still my fav FPS overall

BF1942 is awesome...all you need is the originals, I didn't like the expansions.

I play CS:Source most weekday evenings, and I have a blast. You'll still run into the periodic aiming bot/speed hack creeps that frequented the previous incarnations of Counter-Strike, however.

Kahar and I are playing right now. I've been pickup grouping and just started playing last week. If anyone else is interested, let me know.

The game is really a lot of fun, although I haven't yet been able to get any of the BFRs <Mini Mechs>

I've been thinking of buying the Riddek FPS, has anyone tried it? Don't own an X-box but it's out on PC now.

The XBox version was excellent from start to finish. I paid like $10 for it I think. Kick ass game.

If WoW starts sucking hardcore (instead of just softcore like now) I'd be tempted to haul durothil with me and get the SOE all access shiznat

as it is right now, I wouldn't pay $15/month for planetside, and I have no interest in paying for SWG or EQ 1/2 atm

Besides the steep learning curve Natural Selection mod for Halflife is honestly the most involved FPS I've ever played.

I just reinstalled BF1942 and been playing the Star Wars mod(Galactic Conquest) and Desert Combat

You should check out DirectDownload.com, they are farcry up there for 19 bucks and you can download the whole thing. I've gotten quite a few games from them so far and all have worked great.

I'm waiting for splintercell TC to come out, should be at the end of the month.

Of course there is alway half-life 2, if you haven't played this yet then you should go outside and ask a random stranger to kick you right in the nuts because you deserve it. If you get that you get CS: Source is which is pretty good and not to mention the HL2DM which has a ton of mods for it as well (very good stuff).

There really isn't much out right now that's worth anything.

Planetside was okay but it got old pretty fast, now if you have the all access pass from Sony then you can download PS and start playing it, I had fun with it but I didn't feel it was worth it enough to pay a monthly fee for it.

Agree 100%, this game was fantastic, not the longest game but very good content. You can probably pick up the original for very cheap now too.

Vaelie, PS has been through some nice upgrades. If you are playing EQ1 or 2, or SWG its worthwhile to nab the All Access.

I have HL2 and CS: Source... Very good.

what are the best mods for HL2? Can you still play the natural selection mod with this?

As far as Planetside, what do battle ranks do for you? Do you have access to all the equipment in the game from the start or do you have to earn the ability to use the cool stuff? How are the GFX on PSide?

Thanks for the info... reinstalling HL2 on my new machine as we speak.

Just spent the last 45 mins looking at HL2 mods... Damn there are a lot of them out there...

Is there any good sites that lists the most popular ones and rates them and is regularly updated?

the battleranks in planetside let you buy "certs" to use new weapons/vehicles

it's relatively easy to lvl up if you don't suck, and if your group doesn't suck

I think i played for 3 hours one night and made it to BR 10

you can usually get 3 or 4 battleranks right off the bat by hitting up the simulators and demo'ing all the gear (which is kinda cool)

gives you a bit of a feel for all the weapons, and helps you pick your certs/talents

Gonna have to go with Quake III... I loved that game. I have never played a game so long and intensely than that. Does anyone still play Quake III or any mods of it? I might go buy a new copy since I lost my last one.
