Doomhammer vs Whisperwind vs Other Servers

I have been toying around on Doomhammer with my main over on Whisperwind...

I have noticed that doomhammer seems to be a lot more like the old nameless server...

People seem to be a bit more talkative, friendly and there is a lot more idle banter over the chat channels which made original EQ fun. I guess I feel there is more of a community on this server when compared to Whisperwind.

Consequently I am having a pretty good time on doomhammer... I find that the social aspect is really the only good reason to play mmogs these days considering they all still have server problems and tons of bugs. When you take the social aspect out of a mmog it is really just a poor single player game.

I'm curious for those who play on servers other than whisperwind or on multiple servers what your thoughts are about the community?

I also would like to say that not being able to communicate between the alliance and horde is a big mistake on the part of the developers. Being able to develop a good nemesis or enemy is key to these types of games and is just as important as developing relationships with players on the same side you play on. A perfect example was LoS vs Sanctuary... That little bit of drama was as entertaining of an online experience as they get and completely missing in WoW.

Thoughts?

EQ community >>>>>>>>>>>>>> WoW community, no doubt

in general, i'm rapidly losing interest in WoW
it's nice that it's casual friendly, but it's so fucking easy to kill shit, that it's almost not worthwhile

I don't like banter in the public channels. In general, our server is quiet - and hopefully will remain so.

If an expansion comes out that makes killing not so trivial, I will be back and happily so.

The community is also shit.

My WOW account has another month. It was fun but I'm not inclined to re up, though.

The game needs more high end content bigtime which should be hard as hell to get through and SOME of that content should be highly contested between horde and alliance...

fuck this instance shit.

Part of the challenge of past mmogs has always been beating the other guilds to the punch or just outright taking it and all the drama that ensued. While much of the game is great instanced there should be some zones that are just packed with tough as nails mobs, insane loot, and accessible daily by both horde and alliance and full-on PVP regardless of the server. At most put some player limits for each side so that the alliance can't zerg the shit out of it.

There is just no flavor or solid community to build anything significant with WoW right now and it needs to change starting with communication being enabled between the opposing sides.

Instancing is for carebear pussies who can't handle competition.

at least they put in the new raid encounters, shows that they understand that competition can be a good thing for a game like this

i like ner'zhul, it has a good community that isn't completely full of idiots, and whenever one shows up they are quickly ridiculed and blacklisted

luckily i found a good guild, leader is an ex-CQ officer and most of the players are ex-EQ pvp server players. it's a fun guild and even has a token highly-skilled hilarious TW player.

so yeah, i have no problems with the community on my server

and i really would like to know what you guys mean by the game being easy - if you're talking about the level curve then yeah it's alot faster than EQ was, and killing/questing on world mobs is simple, but once you get into MC the curve shoots up and is just as hard (or harder) than any EQ stuff ever was.

i wouldn't consider how much time you have to invest in a game to get max level a gauge of how difficult it is

i like doomhammer. Seems to be nice people and the chinease farmers are really cool once you get to know them ( they come on our UBRS runs sometimes) Although it helps when you start on the same server as like 20 real life friends as opposed to everquest with like 3.

5 manned DM a couple times now

scholo and strat are still a bit difficult in the low 50's with just 5

it seems all it's going to be is planes of power all over again. Where EVERYONe and their brother is max level and it's just a clusterfuck at the top. The biggest difference being there is no competition in wow other then outside spawns (yay!) everything else is instanced . Like really the most drama there was in EQ was from races between guilds. I miss that whole we mobilize faster then you so we win idea as opposed to everyone just take your time get there when you get there and we'll be ready to go when everyone is good and ready. Fuck that shit flying in there half buffed and not knowing wtf was going on was half the fun.

this kind of stuff is happening on our server now with the outdoor raids, az has spawned 3 times now since patch and last night we were the first people there

we engage, fight it, a few alliance come, they die, then mid fight a horde guild that is a little behind us in MC shows up and stands around us watching. she does her summon thing and the dragon starts to run up to a hill and starts to get evade bugged @ 10%, its life fills back up to around 60% and we finally get control of it again, get it back down to 30% or so and it evade bugs AGAIN, gets full health, and this time we assist it and see it has targetted a hunter from the other guild, who is up in the mountains intentionally bugging it

so yeah heh, the old competition and drama is happening again - i don't mind it though

I would literally punch those kids in the face if I knew they lived near me.

That's like wrecking someone's model they are building just for the fuck of it. You don't fuck with someone's hobby because you have a small dick.

If Eonar wasn't a shithole server you guys should have come over two weeks ago. So much Drama between Paragon(High End Alliance) and Muteki(Horde) over killing shit first it wasn't even funny, check the realm forums sometimes, it was like Sanc/LoS all over again.

Ohh, and PS, we have a token French Canadian, halp.
