Apparently, we are too tired to do the dirty
This is an interesting study, and I wouldn't have guessed so many have sleeping disorders.
This was especially interesting
"In my practice, I've found when couples are forced to sleep apart because of one partner's sleep problems, it often has a terrible effect on the relationship," said Dr. Meir Kryger, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at St. Boniface Hospital Research Center at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and a director of the Foundation.

Hmm, I wonder if they polled Americans or Canadians?
Seems like a lot of trouble to go to Winnipeg to find Americans. Something is fishy in that story.

I think the quote was from a Canadian. The study was Muricans, unless I misread it somewhere, Zan.

I don't understand what the majority of people are doing where they can't get enough sleep. It's really sad it fucks up your body more than you realize.

Too bad they don't break down the "sleepy" people by sex. I'd be willing to bet that 80-90% of those complaining about being "too tired" are women.

Be consistent with kids bedtimes and locations and there will be no problems with sleep.

All the parents I have ever met with problems getting their children to sleep also tend to give their kids large amounts of sugar and are not putting them to sleep at the same time every night I can understand the first 2 years but I talk to people with out kids that sleep 5 hours a night for no other reason other than they don't think about it.

Some people have to work 2 or more jobs. Some people have trouble sleeping even if they do have the time for it. There are all kinds of reasons.

Yes SOme people do work two jobs, most people with sleeping problems eat like shit and work/live a lifestyle that involves little activity.

Some people can't sleep because of the noise. My oldest is harder to get down. My youngest goes to bed everynight within the same time frame, and up every morning WAY TO EARLY.

There are solutions, but people like excuses more than solutions.

Funny segue here. My first trip to the Gulf I was forward deployed to an Aircraft Carrier doing 24x7 flight ops.
I was working 18 hour shifts as a Linguist doing Crypto Tech work. The first few nights I just could not get any sleep. The planes landing were like a huge explosion happening above my head, followed by the ship booming and shaking.
After the first week I got somewhat into a 'routine' where I used headphones from work which muffled noise and propped an extra pillow to help with the shaking. After a month I was sleeping like a baby through it all.
I get a chuckle when people say they cannot sleep because of noise or environment. That's an excuse. Especially if you are a parent and in charge of your household.
As Mop insinuated it has little to do with the surroundings, and one can always get help and work out ways to get enough sleep.

It isn't my kids that were making the noise. I moved into there room, and it helped the situation

We have trains that go by our house day and night. The tracks are about a block away. They are LOUD but I have grown used to them. I have problems sleeping because my mind starts racing before bed. I lay in bed calculating, theorizing, inventing hot chicks to dream fuck, etc... sometimes I lay there for hours before I finally get to sleep.

Yeah I do that too Toss.. I tend to think a lot when I finally get around to laying down.. It used to get to the point where I'd take Nyquil purely to help me sleep.. That's kind of bad, I'd think..

When I get regular exercise I can sleep through anything.
In the winter when I play on my computer all day, I sleep like shit.
No mystery there.

You know there are sleep aids that aren't meant to reduce cold symptoms, I hope?
